Download PDF: Effect of the Revelations
It is reported that when Sayyiduna Rasoolullah May Allah send peace and blessings upon him passed away, Sayyidah Umme Ayman May Allah be pleased with her was extremely distraught. She used to weep all the time. Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Bakr May Allah be pleased with him and Hadrat Sayyiduna ‘Umar May Allah be pleased with him used to always remind her that she should stop crying because Sayyiduna Rasoolullah May Allah send peace and blessings upon himis is in a better place.
However, she replied, “I know this very well, but that is not the reason for me crying. The reason that I am weeping is that the blessed Revelation from Allah Almighty has also stopped.” When they heard this reply, both eminent Ashaab also began to weep. (Sahih Muslim, 341)
Lesson
A person can never be successful until and unless they do not fashion their entire existence according to the teachings of the Sayyiduna Rasoolullah May Allah send peace and blessings upon him. At the same time, one of the greatest methods of doing this was through the teachings which was sent through Divine Revelation and this source of ultimate guidance had now ceased on this earth. This is also one of the easiest methods of being able to know about the Divine Pleasure of Allah Almighty.
When we look at the words and teachings of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah May Allah send peace and blessings upon him, it was always based on the most simple of methods for the benefit of his Ummah.
At the same time, many Divine Laws were sent as per the wishes of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah May Allah send peace and blessings upon him.
One of the startling examples was the issue of five daily Salaah instead of fifty.
There are also many other aspects in religion which we can point to. One of them was the issue of using the Miswaak. He had mentioned that if he did not think of the convenience of his Ummah, he would have requested that this becomes Fard. (Bukhari Shareef)
Another example is on the occasion of Hajj. When one the companions kept asking about the times a person should perform Hajj in his life time, he replied that if he had mentioned yes in answer for every year, then Hajj would have become Fard on Muslims every year.
This proves that the pious Muslims of the past were fully aware of the benefit of actions for the Hereafter. If only the Muslim sisters of the present age are also able to display the same amount of enthusiasm for the acquisition of Islamic knowledge, certainly the Muslim Ummah would be different today. Most of them feel that learning these Islamic Laws are nothing but a burden and something which they feel very difficult to practise upon. Most of them are under the impression that they should be free and not spent much time on Islam.
