Ikraash bin Zuwaib narrates:

“My tribe, the Bani Marrah, once ordered me to take their Zakah and give it to Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him. I then arrived in Madina Shareef. At that moment, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – was surrounded by the Muhaajireen and Ansaar. I then arrived with the camel (full of Zakah).

He then asked who had brought this and I mentioned, ‘It is me Akraash bin Zuwaib.’

He then asked me to describe my family lineage.

I then described my family tree until Marrah bin Ubaid.

When he heard this, he smiled broadly and declared, “This is the camel of my family. This is the Zakah of my family.”

He said that I should place a mark on this and include it in the Baitul Maal. He held my hand and took me to the blessed house of Hadrat Sayyidah Umme Salmah – may Allah be pleased with her. He asked what was there to eat and a small bowl of gravy (thareed) was placed in front of me with a piece of meat inside this gravy.

I began to eat and my hands went everywhere in the bowl. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – then held my hand and said, “O Ikraash! Eat from one spot because the food is of one type.”

Then a plate of different types of dates were presented. The blessed hand of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – went to all parts of the plate. He then said, “O Ikraash! Eat from wherever you want because these are different types of items.” (Tafseer ibn Katheer)
