Hadrat Sayyiduna Mohammed bin Salm Khawwas – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates, “Once I saw Qadi Yahya bin Aksam in a dream and asked him how he had been treated.
He replied, ‘Allah Almighty placed me in front and declared, ‘O that old sinful person! If your hair was not white, then certainly I would have placed you in Hell.’
When I heard these words, my state was the same state as that person who stands guilty in front of his master. I then began to tremble with fear and when I had recovered, again I was told, ‘O that old sinful person! If your beard was not white, then certainly, I would have placed in you Hell.’
I began to tremble with fear and this became even more. When I had recovered, again the same words were mentioned to me. I then said in the Divine Court of Allah Almighty, ‘O my Creator who is All Forgiving, All Merciful, I heard from Abdur Razak bin Hummam and he heard from Mu’ammar bin Rashid and he heard from ibn Shihaab Zuhri and he heard from Anas bin Maalik and he heard from your beloved Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – and he heard from Jibra’eel Ameen and Jibra’eel Ameen had heard Your Words which were, “When My slave becomes old in a state of Islam, then I feel ashamed to give him the punishment of Hell.”
My Creator then replied, ‘Abdur Razak, Zuhri have spoken the truth. My beloved Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him –has spoken the truth and Jibra’eel Ameen has spoken the truth and My Words are also the Truth. Therefore, O Angels! Take this person into Jannah.”
In another report, it is mentioned that Qadi Yahya bin Aksam narrated, ‘Allah Almighty had mentioned, ‘O old person, you are certainly very bad.’ I then replied, ‘O Allah Almighty, Your beloved Prophet has stated that, ‘You certainly feel ashamed to place punishment on an eighty year old person. I have spent eight years in the world, please also show Your Divine Mercy to me.’ Allah Almighty replied, ‘My beloved Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – has certainly spoken the truth, go I have pardoned you.’” (Uyunul Hikaayah)
