Download PDF: [S] To Visit a Sick person

Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – has stated that, “On the Day of Judgement, Allah Almighty will ask a person, ‘O son of Adam! I was sick and you did not visit me.’ The person will reply, ‘O my Lord! How should I visit You, You are the Divine Being Who cares for both the worlds (and therefore pure of being sick or ill).’ The Allah Almighty will Declare, ‘Did you not know that a certain servant of Mine was ill and you did not visit him. Did you not know that if you had visited this person you would have found My (Divine Pleasure there).’

The Allah Almighty will then ask, ‘O son of Adam! I had asked you for food and you did not feed Me.’ The person will ask, ‘O my Lord! How could I have fed You, You are the Lord of both words (and not in need of anyone).’ The Allah Almighty will Declare, ‘Do you not remember that a certain slave of mine had asked you for food and you did not feed him. If you had fed him (you would have found its reward) with Me.’

The Allah Almighty will then ask, ‘O son of Adam! I had asked you for water and you did not give me water to drink.’ The person will say, ‘O my Lord how could I have fed You water? You are the Lord of both worlds (and have no need for water or for anything).’ The Allah Almighty will Declare, ‘A certain slave of Mine had asked you for water and you did not give him water. Did you now know that if you had given him water to drink (you would have found its) reward with Me.’ (Sahih Muslim Shareef)
