Hadrat Sayyidah Ayesha – may Allah be pleased with her – narrates that, “Once during the time of Sehri, I was sewing something when the needle fell from my hand and the lamp was also extinguished. Suddenly, the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – appeared and from the Nur on his blessed face, the entire room became bright and I also managed to find the needle.”

“I then said, ‘O Prophet of Allah! How full of Nur is your blessed face.’ He replied, ‘O Ayesha! Destruction is for that person who is unable to see me on the Day of Judgement.’ I asked, ‘Who will not be able to see you on the Day of Judgement, O Prophet of Allah?’ He declared, ‘The miser.’ I asked, ‘O Prophet of Allah! Who is a miser?’ He replied, ‘That person in front of whom I am mentioned and he does not read the Durood upon me.’” (Dalaa’ilun Nubuwah, Sunan Kubra Imam Nisaa’i)

A’la Hadrat Imam Ahmed Raza – may Allah be pleased with him – explains, “A lost needle is found through your smile. The evening becomes morning through your brightness.” (Hadaaiq-e-Bakhshish)

Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – has stated that, “Recite Durood upon me, without doubt, for you to recite Durood upon (is a means) of cleansing yourself and seek from Allah the position of Wasilah for me.”

The blessed companions asked, “O Prophet of Allah! What is Wasilah?” He replied, “It is the highest position in Jannah which will only be given to one person and I have hope that it would be me.” (Tirmidi Shareef)

The excellence of Durood Shareef

Hadrat Sayyiduna Ali – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that the beloved of Allah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – has stated that, “He who recites Durood upon me on a Thursday evening, the Angels descend with sheets of silver and with pens of gold in their hands and he who reads Durood upon me on a Thursday evening and on a Friday, the Angels record this Durood. Therefore, increase your recital of the Durood upon me on Friday. (Nuzhatul Majaalis)

Hadrat Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – has stated that, “He who reads a single Durood on me on the night of Jum’uah, (Thursday night) or on a Friday, Allah Almighty will fulfil one hundred of his needs in the Hereafter and thirty wordily needs. An Angel is also sent to my grave who enters my grave and informs me about the name, the family lineage and the name of the family of this person which is then saved with me in a white piece of paper.” (Shuhubul Imaan, Imam Bahiqi)

The Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – has stated that, “Without doubt, there are certain Angels of Allah Almighty who travel around. They are able to deliver to me the Durood of those in the East and the West. Therefore, whosoever reads eighty Durood on me on a Friday, eighty years of his sins are pardoned.” (Sunan Nisaa’i)
