Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – has stated that, “There are certain Angels of Allah Almighty who search for the people who make the Dhikr of Allah in their travels. When they meet the people who are making the Dhikr, they call out (to the other Angels), ‘Come here, your object has been found.’ (In other words, the people who are making Dhikr of Allah have been found). These angels then surround these people with their wings. And this is seen from the earth to the heavens.”

He then states that (after this Dhikr is complete by these people, the Angels return to Allah Almighty). Allah Almighty then enquires from them even though He is aware of everything. He asks, “What were My slaves mentioning?”

They (the Angels) reply, “O Allah, these people were mentioning Your Tasbeeh, Your Takbeer, Your Hamd and Your Thana.”

Allah Almighty then asks them, “(O Angels), have these people seen Me?”

The Angels reply, “No, O Allah, they have not seen You.”

Allah Almighty then asks them, “If they had seen Me, what would have been their state?”

The Angels reply, “If they had seen You, then certainly they would have increased in Your Hamd, Your Thana, Your Tasbeeb and Your Taqdees.”

The Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – continues, “Allah Almighty then enquires from them, ‘(O Angels), what were they asking Me?”

The Angels reply, ‘They were asking You for Jannah.’

Allah Almighty will then ask, “Have they seen Jannah?”

The Angels will reply that no, they have not seen Jannah. “But if they had seen Jannah, then they would certainly have wished for it in abundance.”

Allah Almighty will then ask, “What do they seek protection from?”

The Angels will reply, “They seek protection from hell.”

Allah Almighty will the ask, “Have they seen Hell?”

The Angels will say that no, they have not seen Hell.

Allah Almighty will ask, “If they had seen Hell, then what would have been their state?”

The Angels will reply, “If they had seen Hell, they will endeavour to save themselves from it and would be extremely fearful.”

Allah Almighty will declare, “O Angels! I have you witnesses that I have pardoned these people.”

The Angels will then inform Allah Almighty that there was one among them who was not making the Dhikr and he had only appeared there for another reason. Even then Allah Almighty will declare, “These are such people who even their companions (who merely sit with them), are not robbed.”  (Sahih Bukhari Shareef)

Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – has stated that, “Allah Almighty has declared, ‘I am with My servants as he thinks about Me. When he remembers Me, I am with him. When he remembers Me in His heart, I also remember him secretly. When he remembers Me in a group then I also remember him in such a group which is better than them. When He comes towards Me a single step, I approach him nearly four steps. If he walks towards Me , then My Divine Mercy rushes towards him.” (Sahih Muslim Shareef)
