Arsh ki Zeb-o-zeenat pe Arshi Durood
Farsh ki teeb-o-nuzhat pe Laakhon Salam
May there be lofty blessings upon the beauty and glory of the ‘Arsh
Millions of peace be upon the fragrance and magnificence of the earth
The Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – on the ‘Arsh:
The Holy Quran states his high station as follows:
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلّٰی ۙ﴿۸﴾
Then that splendid sight drew nearer, then he came close well.
So there was a distance of two hands between the Splendid sight and the beloved (Prophet) but rather less than that.
(Al-Najm 53, Verse 8-9)
Imam Bukhari narrates the Tafseer of this verse from Hazrat Anas – may Allah be pleased with him – that the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – stated:
Jibreel (peace be upon him) took me to Sidrah. Allah Almighty became close to me until there was even less than two hands distance.
Imam Ibn Asakir writes that:
The Hadeeth suggests that this closeness occurred on the ‘Arsh.
Imam Khefaji writes about his presence on the ‘Arsh as follows:
It is also recorded within the Hadeeth of Me’raj that when the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – reached Sidrah, Jibreel (peace be upon him) offered him with the transport of Rafraf which flew him to the ‘Arsh.
There many authentic Ahadeeth which prove that he visited the paradise and ascended to the ‘Arsh.
Shaykh Abdul Haq Muhaddith Dehlvi highlights in Ash’atul Lam’aat the very concept as follows:
The Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – stated that green Rafraf was offered to him as a means of transportation and its light was brighter than the sun and my vision extended even further, and then I was mounted onto the Rafraf which took me to the ‘Arsh.
It has been proven that the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – saw Allah Almighty twice; firstly, by Sidrah and secondly on the ‘Arsh.
Hazrat Shaykh Mujaddid Alfe Thaani writes in his Maktoobaat as follows:
Muhammadur Rasoolullah – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – is the beloved of Allah Almighty and greater than the entire creation of the past and future. He was blessed by the physical Me’raj, went to ‘Arsh and Throne of Allah, and even went beyond the limits of time and space.
The Glory and Beauty of ‘Arsh:
Hazrat Shaykh Abdul Haq Muhaddith Dehlvi writes in Madaarijun Nubuwwah with reference to the Muhadditheen and Historians on Seerah that:
When Allah’s beloved – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – reached the ‘Arsh it sought his attention and said, “O Muhammad, you are the only one who has seen and witnessed the Divine Being of Allah, and me, despite being present in his court at all times, I could never be blessed with His vision. When Allah Almighty created me, I was trembling with Allah’s fear and when the Kalimah “La ilaaha illAllah” was written on my forehead, it only worsened my fear more but when Allah Almighty wrote your name is Kalimah “Muhammadur Rasoolullah” on me it all went away. It is your Mercy that if just your name has become a means for my peace and salvation for my heart. I cannot help it but wonder if I be blessed with your merciful gaze!
The Fragrance and Magnificence of the Earth:
The nations of the past had specific structures and places of worship and were not allowed to worship anywhere else but at those places which annulled their virtues if they worshipped elsewhere but when the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – arrived and the earth was blessed with his Mubarak feet, Allah Almighty announced that the entire earth has been purified and that He will accept the worship done at any part of the earth.
The Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – states this very fact as follows:
جُعِلَتْ لِیَ الْاَرْضُ مَسْجِدًا وَ طَھُوْرًا
Allah Almighty made the entire surface of earth a place of Sajdah for me and purified it.
A portion of Earth became the garden of paradise:
Allah Almighty made the place where the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – stayed, performed Salah, his pulpit and his arch a piece from the gardens of paradise, as he states:
ما بین بیتی و منبری روضۃ من ریاض الجنۃ
The place between my house and my pulpit is a garden from the gardens of paradise.
(Bukhari; Fadhaail al Madinah)
Crown of Excellence on the Earth:
The portion of earth on which the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – set his blessed feet or stayed there is greater than the entire universe and even the greatest ‘Arsh as Hazrat Shaykh ibn Aqeel Hanbali declares it as follows:
انھا افضل من العرش
It’s greatest than the ‘Arsh.
(Fadhaail al Madinah al Munawwarah p. 106)
Imam Yusuf ibn Ismail al Nabhaani rahimahullah writes that there is consensus of the Muslim Ummah on this:
The part of land where he is buried is greater than the rest of the earth and even the Holy Ka’bah and the ‘Arsh by consensus.
