Download PDF: The Parents of Hadrat Ghous Paak

During his early life, Hadrat Sayed Abu Saleh Radi Allahu ‘Anhu was once walking on the banks of a river. He had not eaten for many days. While Hadrat Sayed Abu Saleh Radi Allahu ‘Anhu was walking, he saw an apple on the ground. Without thinking, he picked up this apple and began to eat it. After eating this apple he began to think that perhaps this apple belonged to someone and that he had eaten it without permission.

When Hadrat Sayed Abu Saleh Radi Allahu ‘Anhu realized this, he began to walk along the river bank with the intention of finding the owner of this apple and asking permission for having eaten it. As he walked along, he reached an orchard of apples and he saw many ripe apples hanging from the trees. They were also hanging over the water below. Hadrat Sayed Abu Saleh Radi Allahu ‘Anhu understood that this was the orchard from where the apple had fallen in the river.

When Hadrat Sayed Abu Saleh Radi Allahu ‘Anhu inquired further, he found out that this orchard belonged to Hadrat Sayed Abdullah Suma’e Radi Allahu ‘Anhu. Hadrat Sayed Abu Saleh Radi Allahu ‘Anhu then approached him to apologise for his action. When he heard the reason for him coming to him Hadrat Sayed Abdullah Suma’e Radi Allahu ‘Anhu immediately understood that this young man was someone who had special qualities. Hadrat Sayed Abdullah Suma’e Radi Allahu ‘Anhu himself was also among the Awliya. However, Hadrat Sayed Abdullah Suma’e Radi Allahu ‘Anhu realised that such a pious young man should not be allowed to leave just like that. Hadrat Sayed Abdullah Suma’e Radi Allahu ‘Anhu then asked him to take care of the orchard for a short period of time. He also informed Hadrat Sayed Abu Saleh Radi Allahu ‘Anhu that after taking care of the orchard for some many days, he will rethink whether he should accept the apology or not.

Hadrat Sayed Abu Saleh Radi Allahu ‘Anhu agreed and took care of this orchard with great honesty and integrity.

After this period, Hadrat Sayed Abu Saleh Radi Allahu ‘Anhu again approached the great Saint and asked him to accept his apology. However, the great Saint replied that there was also another condition on which he would accept his apology. He mentioned, “I have a daughter who is blind, deaf, physically disabled and I wish that you marry this daughter of mine. If you accept this condition, then I would accept your apology.”

Hadrat Sayed Abu Saleh Radi Allahu ‘Anhu also accepted this condition.

However, when Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Saleh Radi Allahu ‘Anhu was married and saw his wife for the first time, he found that she was pure of all of these conditions which his father in law had spoken about. He thought that perhaps he had married the wrong girl and in this state of concern, he left the house.

When Hadrat Sayed Abdullah Suma’e Radi Allahu ‘Anhu met Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Saleh Radi Allahu ‘Anhu outside his house he asked him the reason for his concern and worry. Hadrat Sayed Abdullah Suma’e Radi Allahu ‘Anhu told him, “My son! This is actually your wife. And as for the conditions which I had explained, they were not false. The reason I mentioned that she was blind was because until today she had never seen a stranger; deaf was because until today, she had never listened to anything which was against Islamic Shari’ah. She has also never left her house and has never ever touched anything which was not supposed to touch according to Islamic Law.”

When Hadrat Sayed Abu Saleh Radi Allahu ‘Anhu heard this, he was extremely happy and also made a special Du’a that he had been blessed with such a pious and noble wife. (Zubdatul Asaar, 12)

Lesson

These are the blessed qualities of the grandparents and the parents of Hadrat Sayyiduna Sheikh Sayed Abdul Qaadir Jilani Radi Allahu ‘Anhu. We can also see from this incident the piety and nobleness of these great souls.

There is no doubt that pious and good children will be a crown for their parents on the Day of Judgement. It is also through these pious children that the status and rank of their parents will also be increased. As for those children who are nothing but distress for their parents, they will become a curse for themselves and also become curse for their parents in this world and the next.

If this blessed mother of Hadrat Ghous Paak Radi Allahu ‘Anhu was not someone who was pious and noble, this type of description would not have been presented by her father. At the same time, this quality of hers would not have been remembered until the Day of Judgement by Muslims all over the world.

If only the Muslim sisters of today are able to bring up their children in this manner, certainly, there would be a major change in this world. We make Du’a that Allah Almighty also blesses our Muslim sisters with this trait. Aameen.
