Hadrat Sayyiduna Saa’ib bin Yazeed May Allah be pleased with him narrates: “My maternal aunt took me to Sayyiduna Rasoolullah May Allah send peace and blessings upon him and told him, “O Prophet of Allah! This nephew of mine is sick.”

 

“When Sayyiduna Rasoolullah May Allah send peace and blessings upon him heard this, he passed his blessed hands over my head and made a special Du’a for me. He then made Wudu and I drank the blessed water which remained.” (Bukhari Shareef)

 

Lesson

 

In the Holy Qur’an, describing the amazing qualities of Nabi ‘Isa Peace be upon him and how he could cure the sick and ill, the Qur’an describes in Surah Ale Imran, verse 49:

یٰۤاَیُّہَا الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اِنۡ تُطِیۡعُوا الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا یَرُدُّوۡکُمْ عَلٰۤی اَعْقٰبِکُمْ فَتَنۡقَلِبُوۡا خٰسِرِیۡنَ﴿۱۴۹﴾

‘O believers! If you follow the line of infidels, then they will turn you upon your heels, and you will be back after losing.

 

When we realise this, we should also remember that Allah Almighty has certainly made certain Prophets greater in status than other Prophets.

 

In Surah Baqarah, verse 253, the Qur’an declares:

تِلْکَ الرُّسُلُ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَہُمْ عَلٰی بَعْضٍۘ مِنْہُمۡ مَّنۡ کَلَّمَ اللہُ وَرَفَعَ بَعْضَہُمْ دَرَجٰتٍؕ وَاٰتَیۡنَا عِیۡسَی ابْنَ مَرْیَمَ الْبَیِّنٰتِ وَاَیَّدْنٰہُ بِرُوۡحِ الْقُدُسِؕ وَلَوْ شَآءَ اللہُ مَا اقْتَتَلَ الَّذِیۡنَ مِنۡۢ بَعْدِہِمۡ مِّنۡۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْہُمُ الْبَیِّنٰتُ وَلٰکِنِ اخْتَلَفُوۡا فَمِنْہُمۡ مَّنْ اٰمَنَ وَمِنْہُمۡ مَّنۡ کَفَرَؕ وَلَوْ شَآءَ اللہُ مَا اقْتَتَلُوۡا۟ وَلٰکِنَّ اللہَ یَفْعَلُ مَا یُرِیۡدُ﴿۲۵۳﴾٪

These are messengers! That in them We caused one to excell upon the other; to some of them Allah spoke: and some one is he who was raised high in degrees over-all, and We gave clear signs to Isa son of Maryam and aided him with holy spirit and had Allah so willed, then those who came after them would not have fought among themselves after the clear signs had come to them. But they differed, some of them remained faithful and some became disbelievers and if Allah so willed, they would not have fought; but Allah does whatever He desires.

 

There is no doubt that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah May Allah send peace and blessings upon him was that Prophet to whom Allah Almighty spoke directly to as we know from the incident of Me’raj. Therefore, he is the greatest of Prophets. If this is the status of Nabi ‘Isa Peace be upon him, who is just an Ummati of the Sayyiduna Rasoolullah May Allah send peace and blessings upon him, what must be the status of the Sayyiduna Rasoolullah May Allah send peace and blessings upon him when it comes to curing someone?
