It is mentioned that there was once a King who travelled with his army on a hunting trip. During the journey, he became separated from his army and while on the road, he saw a very pretty lady. He was attracted to this lady so he approached her and introduced himself to the lady. He told her of his evil intentions towards her. She told him that she needed to return home to bathe and then she will return. The King waited for her. However, a few minutes later, she returned with a book and handed it to the King. She then told him that he should read the book while she was bathing. When the King opened this book, the first thing that he saw was the punishment that a person would receive for committing adultery. His intention suddenly changed. In his heart, the fear for the Creator Almighty was created. He immediately made Taubah and returned from that area.

 

Lesson

 

Allah Almighty declares in Surah Nahl, verse 125:

اُدْعُ اِلٰی سَبِیۡلِ رَبِّکَ بِالْحِکْمَۃِ وَ الْمَوْعِظَۃِ الْحَسَنَۃِ وَجٰدِلْہُمۡ بِالَّتِیۡ ہِیَ اَحْسَنُ ؕ اِنَّ رَبَّکَ ہُوَ اَعْلَمُ بِمَنۡ ضَلَّ عَنۡ سَبِیۡلِہٖ وَ ہُوَ اَعْلَمُ بِالْمُہۡتَدِیۡنَ ﴿۱۲۵﴾

Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good admonition and argue with them in a way that is best. No doubt, your Lord knows well who has strayed from His way and He knows well those who are guided.

 

There is no doubt that when a person uses sound wisdom in their speech and conversation, there is a tremendous effect in their words. If this Muslim female had not used wisdom in her effort, then it would have been impossible to restrict this King from committing this sin.

 

Our Muslim sisters should also use this wisdom to spread the word of Islam among the people in their immediate vicinity. If one does not use this type of wisdom, then it becomes very difficult to save people from sin and from encouraging them in doing good deeds.

 

This incident also teaches us the importance of reading and having valuable books at your disposal. If this female was not someone who studied the laws of Islam, it would have been difficult to save the situation.

 

At the same time, there are different methods of giving advice and educating people. At times, reading is of great benefit and at times speaking to people carries a great benefit.

 

Therefore, our Muslim sisters should look at the circumstances and be able to make a correct decision on what should be done at that precise moment.

 

We make Du’a that Allah Almighty gives us the strength to learn and educate. Aameen.
