There is no doubt that to mock, taunt and insult a Muslim is an action which is considered as Haraam and a very major sin.
In Surah Al Hujurat (49), verse 11, the Holy Qur’an declares:
“O People who Believe! Men must not ridicule other men for it could be that the ridiculed are better than the mockers, nor must the women ridicule other women for the ridiculed women may be better than the mockers; and do not insult one another, nor assign evil nicknames; how base it is to be called a sinner after being a Muslim! And whoever does not repent – then it is they who are unjust.”
There are also many Ahadith in this regard. Those who mock, ridicule and insult another Muslim are doing nothing but destroying their Hereafter.
Therefore, one should make sincere Taubah or else these people would be considered as sinners. There is also a habit among the rich to insult and ridicule those who are poor and needy. In fact, they also make a great joke of the poor and needy. We also see that due to their circumstances, the poor and needy do not answer back or defend themselves. These arrogant and ignorant people should realise that if they do not make Taubah and repent for their sins, they will certainly be among the losers and will become entitled for the punishment of Hell. Bear in mind that the tears of the oppressed are turned into the Divine Flow of unending punishment for those to who mock and ridicule the poor and needy.
