Hakeem bin Jafer mentions that once Abu Hashim noticed Qadi Shuraik leaving the house of Yahya bin Khalid and he began to weep. He declared, “I seek protection from that knowledge in which there is no benefit.”

 

He used to also say that it is easy for a mountain to go through the hole of a needle but it was extremely difficult for pride to leave the heart.

 

He also once mentioned that, “If the entire world was filled with mansions and gardens and the houses of the Hereafter were only made from sand and mud an intelligent person would choose the Hereafter because this world is something which is only temporary.” (Hulyatul Awliyah)
