Hadrat Sayyiduna Suwaid bin Haarith – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates:

 

We appeared in front of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – in a small delegation. Among my people, I was the seventh among the seven (who appeared). When we approached the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – he was surprised at our fine clothing and appearance and he asked us, “Who are you people?”

 

We replied that we were believers.

 

When he heard our reply, he smiled and asked, “For every statement there is a reality. What is the reality behind your Imaan and statement?”

 

We replied, “There are fifteen habits. Five of which was mentioned by your emissary who advised us to have certainty on it. Five of them are habits from the days of ignorance and until the present moment, we are steadfast on them. If you dislike them, we will refrain from them.’” (Hayaat As Sahaabah)
