It is mentioned that once during Tawaaf, Hadrat Sayyiduna Ebrahim bin Adham – may Allah be pleased with him –  kept on looking at a young man who was also making Tawaaf. His Mureeds were also surprised because the great Saint was also weeping.

When his Mureeds asked him the reason for this, Hadrat Sayyiduna Ebrahim bin Adham – may Allah be pleased with him – told them that he had made a promise to Allah Almighty which he would never break. And the reason that he was weeping is that when he left his palace his wife was carrying a young child and the young man he could see in front of him was indeed this young child. However, since he had made a promise to Allah Almighty, he could never approach the young man and he had left everything behind for the Divine Pleasure of Allah Almighty.

Hadrat Sayyiduna Ebrahim bin Adham – may Allah be pleased with him – then asked his Mureeds to go and convey his salaams to this young but not to reveal his whereabouts. When they approached the young man, he admitted that he was indeed the son of Hadrat Sayyiduna Ebrahim bin Adham – may Allah be pleased with him – and wanted to see his father who had left many years ago to seek the Divine Pleasure of Allah.

When they conveyed the Salaam of the great Saint to the young man and returned to the great Shaikh, they found in weeping in Sajdah. He was also making Du’a for his son that Allah Almighty protect him against sin and transgression and allow him to walk on the Divine Path of Allah Almighty.

In other words, these were those blessed servants of Allah who never allowed the world to come in between themselves and their Divine Creator. Today, if our children have a small wound we would spend thousands looking for the best of doctors but, when we look at these people, we can only stand and wonder.

There is no doubt that this is one of the reasons that in the present time, we cannot remember someone who has died only yesterday, but we can remember the complete life story of a Saint who has dies hundreds of years ago. This is also the promise of Allah Almighty that He would indeed Remember those who remember Him and when we look at the Awliyah, this is a promise which is seen in every generation.

At the same time, when the ‘Urs Shareef of these Awliyah come, everyone seems to know the date in every generation without any masses TV advert or such like. Again it proves that these people have become for Allah and Allah has become for them. The story of Hadrat Sayyiduna Ebrahim bin Adham – may Allah be pleased with him – is a clear example of this.
