Download PDF: [S] She Gave Prophetic Advice
It is reported that once a certain female became very ill and she made a promise that if she became well again, she will travel to Masjidul Aqsa and perform her Salaah. Through the Divine Mercy of Allah Almighty she also became well. Thereafter, she prepared herself to travel to Masjidul Aqsa and then went around wishing everyone farewell.
However, when she came to meet Hadrat Sayyidah Maymunah -may Allah be pleased with her – the great lady informed her that instead of (travelling so far), she should actually perform her Salaah in the Masjid of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – because performing Salaah in this Masjid was a thousand times more rewarding than (Salaah) in any other Masjid. (Musnad Imam Ahmed)
This clearly shows that the pious ladies of the past always had the Divine Pleasure of Allah Almighty in mind when giving any advice. At the same time, when we look at the other females who intended to undertake this trip, we see that these ladies of the past, understood the importance of visiting blessed places and also understood the method showing their appreciation to Allah Almighty.
In the present age, females who recover after some long illness would prefer to have some major celebration instead and Salaah is the last thing on their mind or displaying any Islamic zeal is the last thing they would think about.
At the same time, another important point that should be borne in mind is that she understood that before undertaking such a long journey, she was teaching Muslims in the future the importance of visiting pious people before undertaking any important task. To give people advice was also the Sunnah of the pious in the past. In other words, they educated people on how to achieve the Divine Pleasure of Allah Almighty in the most simple of manner.
Hadrat Sayyidah Maymunah – may Allah be pleased with her – also understood the Prophetic message of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him. There are various degrees of reward for performing Salaah in the three major Haram. Obviously, the first is the Haram of the Ka’ba, the second in reward is Masjidun Nabawi and the third is Masjidul Aqsa. Therefore, it would stand to reason that instead of this person going all the way to Masjidul Aqsa, it would make more sense to perform her Salaah in Madina Shareef as it carries a greater reward.
We notice that the people of today, when they become ill, have a totally different manner of thinking. The first thing on their mind is what will happen to their children, what will happen to their business, what will happen to what money and property they leave behind. If this money actually belonged to you, then you should be concerned, by virtue of the fact that you are not taking it with you, clearly proves it never belonged to you from the very first moment. How can anyone rob you of something which you never owned? This money which you have in the bank, the property which you own, the various other valuables which you gloat about, if this actually belonged to you, then we challenge you to take it to the grave with you. It’s obvious that you will never take it to the grave, so why show off about something which never belonged to you in the first place?
