Hadrat Sayyiduna Salman Farsi – may Allah be pleased with him – mentions that once two people passed by a certain area and there was an idol in that place which people worshipped. The people in that area never allowed anyone to pass by until and unless they did not place some offering in front of the idol. The first mentioned that he did not have anything to offer and they asked him to at least offer a fly as an offering. He agreed to this and offered a fly as an offering. By doing this, he instantly became a person of Hell. The second person refused to place any offering and was killed by these people but he instantly became a person of Jannah. (Hulyatul Awliyah.
