Hadrat Sayyiduna Aanis – may Allah be pleased with him – mentions that the son of Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Talha – may Allah be pleased with him – who was from Hadrat Sayyidah Umme Sulaim – may Allah be pleased with her – suddenly passed away. She mentioned to the people in the household that as long as she did not inform her husband of this tragic news, no one in the house was allowed to mention this to him.

When Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Talha – may Allah be pleased with him – arrived home, his wife prepared some food for him and after he had eaten, she prepared herself and they slept as husband and wife that night.

After they had finished, she asked him, “O Abu Talha! What do you have to say about a certain nation who have been given a certain trust and when they are asked to return that trust, should they return that trust or not?” He replied that they should certainly return that trust. She then mentioned that in the same manner, his son was also a trust from the Allah Almighty who had been returned to Him.

In the morning the blessed companion mentioned this to the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him. When the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – heard this amazing story, he made special Du’a for them.

From the husband and wife relationship on that night, Hadrat Sayyidah Umme Sulaim – may Allah be pleased with her – became pregnant.

A few months later, while the husband and wife were returning from a journey in the company of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – and the other blessed companions, they happen to reach the outskirts of Madina Shareef at night. It was also the behaviour of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – never to enter Madina Shareef at night. He used to camp outside and then enter in the morning.

Suddenly the blessed wife of Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Talha – may Allah be pleased with him – began to feel the cramps of delivery and he was told to go forward. In spite of the fact that he always had the intention of leaving and entering Madina Shareef in the blessed company of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – this time he could not do so.

That same night, the blessed lady gave birth and in the morning, the little child, without having any milk, was sent with Hadrat Sayyiduna Aanis – may Allah be pleased with him – to the blessed court of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him.

At that time the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – had a piece of iron in his hand which he kept on one side and carried the baby. He then chewed some Ajwah which is a special date only found in Madina Shareef and placed it in the mouth of the blessed child. The child was given the name of Abdullah. (Sahih Muslim)

When we look at the blessed behaviour of the Ashaab, we will see that every moment of their existence was spent pleasing Allah Almighty and His beloved Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him.
