Download PDF: [S] The Night of Baraat
Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – mentioned that, “Jibra’eel Ameen appeared to me on the night of Baraat and said, ‘O Muhammad! This is such a night in which the doors of mercy and grace is opened in the heavens.’”
The Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – them awoke and performed his Salaah. He then raised his blessed hands and head towards the heavens and made Du’a.
The Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – then continued, “I then asked Jibra’eel Ameen what night is?”
Jibra’eel Ameen replied that on this night three hundred doors of mercy are opened. Allah Almighty will pardon everyone except those who commit shirk, those who do black magic, those who are fortune tellers, those who have enmity (without any reason), those who are in the habit of consuming alcohol, those who insist on adultery, those who consume usury, those who are disobedient to their parents, those who carry tales and those who break off family relationship (with just cause). Such people would never be pardoned by Allah Almighty until and unless these people do not make sincere Taubah and refrain from these transgression.
The Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – then came outside and performed (more) Salaah. He went into Sajdah while he was weeping and kept saying, “O Allah! I seek protection from Your punishment and from your Divine Wrath and I cannot praise You in the proper manner in which You have praised Yourself. All praise belongs to You until You become pleased.” (Durratun Naasiheen)
