Download PDF: [S] The Miracle of Surah Yaseen

The writer of “Fawaa’id Al Fawaad” writes:

Once Imam Naasirudeen Basti – may Allah be pleased with him – became very ill. In fact, his illness became even more severe and thinking that he had passed away, his family decided to bury him. However, at night, he regained consciousness and realised that he they had already buried him. Imam Naasirudeen Basti – may Allah be pleased with him – was extremely shocked and worried. He also remembered that a person who recites Surah Yaseen forty times in times of stress and trouble, his stress and problems would disappear. In other words, poverty would turn to riches.

Imam Naasirudeen Basti – may Allah be pleased with him – then began to recite Surah Yaseen. While he had read it only twenty seventy times, suddenly he heard a sound from above. He also figured that this person who was interfering with his grave was no one else but a Kafan thief. He then decided to read Surah Yaseen softly so that he would not disturb this person. As he completed the fortieth Yaseen, at that moment, the Kafan thief opened his grave. Imam Naasirudeen Basti – may Allah be pleased with him – then awoke from this grave and left the place. As for the kafan thief, he himself was in a state of shock and ran from the cemetery.

He also realised that if goes immediaitely to his house, everyone else would also go into a state of shock. He then decided to enter the town when it was dark. As he neared the door of each locality (because in those days, each locality had its own door), he shouted out, “I am Naasrideen Basti and people that thought that I was dead even though I was in coma and buried me and they buried me by mistake. I am also alive.”

It is mentioned that after this incident, Imam Naasirudeen Basti – may Allah be pleased with him – also completed the Tafseer of the Qur’an.

Another story is also mentioned about someone named Badee’uz Zamaan who lived in the 4th century. He was also a noted scholar of his age. He also became very ill and fell into a coma. Obviously, people thought that he had died and they decided to bury him. He regained consciousness in his grave. When they opened his grave later on, they noticed that he was holding his beard in awe of what transpires in the grave and he had really passed away. (Waafi yaat Al A’yun)
