Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Zarr – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – has stated that, “I can see those things which you cannot see and I can hear those things which you cannot hear. The heavens are also trembling and why should it not tremble when there is not even a place equal to four hands lengths where an Angel has not placed its head on the ground in Sajdah to Allah Almighty. I swear by Allah Almighty that if you knew what I knew, you would laugh less and weep more and you will not even feel joy with your wives in bed and you will go to the wilds and will call out to the Allah Almighty (all the time).”
Later on Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Zarr – may Allah be pleased with him – used to say, “I swear by Allah Almighty that if only I was a mere tree which people would be able to cut.” (Ibn Maja Shareef)
They were the blessed creation of Allah.
Hadrat Hasan – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that once Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Bakr – may Allah be pleased with him – saw a bird on a tree and he said, “How much of goodness for you that the bird sits on a tree and eats the fruit and if only I was a fruit which a bird could eat.” (Kitab Az Zuhd, Ibn Mubaarak)
Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Aamir – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that Hadrat Sayyiduna ‘Umar – may Allah be pleased with him – used to pick up a twig from the ground and say, “If only I was this twig. If only I was nothing and if only I was not born.” (Kitaab Az Zuhd)
Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Darda – may Allah be pleased with him – used to say, “It is my wish that I am a simple goat at him and when a guest arrives at home, I am slaughtered and the people of house cook.” (Kitaaz Az Zuhd).
Hadrat Sayyiduna ‘Umar bin Husain – may Allah be pleased with him –used to say, “I wish that I was a blade of grass and a strong wind would blow me away.” (Zitaab Az Zuhd)
Sayyidah Ayesha – may Allah be pleased with him – used to also say that if she was only a tree which people would cut.
Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him –has stated that, “A person who weeps in fear of Allah Almighty, will not enter Hell until milk does not re-enter the breast (which is impossible). And the sand and dust from the path of Allah Almighty cannot be combined with the smoke of Hell.” (Tirmidi Shareef, Haakim)
It is mentioned that when the great Saint, Hadrat Sayyiduna Fudail bin Ayyaz – may Allah be pleased with him – used to read the following verse of the Qur’an in Salaah both him and his son used to weep so much that at times, they feel unconscious. (Sayr ‘Alaamul Nublah)
It is the 30 to 36 verses of Surah Al Haaqah which is:
خُذُوۡہُ فَغُلُّوۡہُ ﴿ۙ۳۰﴾ ثُمَّ الْجَحِیۡمَ صَلُّوۡہُ ﴿ۙ۳۱﴾ ثُمَّ فِیۡ سِلْسِلَۃٍ ذَرْعُہَا سَبْعُوۡنَ ذِرَاعًا فَاسْلُکُوۡہُ ﴿ؕ۳۲﴾ اِنَّہٗ کَانَ لَا یُؤْمِنُ بِاللہِ الْعَظِیۡمِ ﴿ۙ۳۳﴾ وَ لَا یَحُضُّ عَلٰی طَعَامِ الْمِسْکِیۡنِ ﴿ؕ۳۴﴾فَلَیۡسَ لَہُ الْیَوْمَ ہٰہُنَا حَمِیۡمٌ ﴿ۙ۳۵﴾ وَّ لَا طَعَامٌ اِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِیۡنٍ ﴿ۙ۳۶﴾
It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him. Then hurl him into the Blazing Fire. Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm -lengths. Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest. And did not urge to feed the needy. So he does not have any friend here this day. Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of Hell.”
It is mentioned that one night, Hadrat Sayyiduna ‘Umar bin Abdul Aziz – may Allah be pleased with him – read the following verse which is the 71/72 verse of Surah Ghaafir and he spent the entire night reciting this verse. (Hulyatul Awliyah; Ihya)
When the scale will be measured.
It is mentioned that one day, a person was sitting in front of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – and complained to the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – that his slave was speaking lies to him, was being dishonest and was being disobedient. “Therefore, I had to swear at him and also hit him. Please inform me what is the situation between him and I.”
The Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – replied, “His dishonesty, his lies and his disobedience will be weight against your punishment. If the punishment is equal to the crime, then both of you are equal. He does not have a right over you and neither you over him. If your punishment is less, then this will be a cause of your excellence. If your punishment is more than his sins, then you will be held accountable.”
The person was screaming and crying when he heard this statement. The Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – then asked him, “Did you not read the Qur’anic verse:
وَنَضَعُ الْمَوٰزِیۡنَ الْقِسْطَ لِیَوْمِ الْقِیٰمَۃِ فَلَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَیْـًٔا ؕ وَ اِنۡ کَانَ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّۃٍ مِّنْ خَرْدَلٍ اَتَیۡنَابِہَا ؕ وَکَفٰی بِنَا حٰسِبِیۡنَ ﴿۴۷﴾
“And We shall set up the scales of justice on the Day of Resurrection – therefore no soul will be wronged in the least; and if a thing is equal to a grain of mustard seed, We will bring it; and We are Sufficient to (take) account.” (Al Ambiyah 47)
The person then replied, “O Prophet of Allah! I cannot see anything better than to free the person, therefore, I am making you a witness that I have freed the person.” (Sahih Tirmidi Shareef)
