It is reported that once Hadrat Haamid Laffaaf – may Allah be pleased with him – wanted to go for the Jumu’ah Salaah. However, he faced a problem. His donkey seemed to have gone missing. His flour was also on the grinding wheel and it was the day that his little field also needed to be watered. It was also the time of Jumu’ah. He thought to himself that if he went for the Jumu’ah Salaah, then all of this would never be done. However, he decided that it would be better to perform the task of the Hereafter then bother about the work of this world.
Hadrat Haamid Laffaaf – may Allah be pleased with him – then decided to go for the Jumu’ah Salaah instead. However, when he returned home, he found that his crops had received water, his donkey was in the stable and his wife was preparing the bread. Hadrat Haamid Laffaaf – may Allah be pleased with him – asked his wife what had happened and she explained, “The donkey came running like a lion was chasing it and when I opened the door, the donkey ran into the stable. As for the crops, our neighbour was watering his field and dozed off. With the result, all the water also came on to our field thereby also watering our crops. As for the flour, this was brought by our neighbour because by mistake, he had actually groun our flour and realizing his mistake, he brought this ready-made flour to us. Hence, I was able to prepare the bread.”
Hadrat Haamid Laffaaf – may Allah be pleased with him – then picked his head and looked at the sky and declared, “O Allah! I only completed one task of Yours but, You had completed three tasks of mine. There is no doubt that all Praise belongs to You.”
It is reported that when Nabi Nuh – peace be upon him – jumped in the ship which he had prepared, the ship began to rise with the water towards the sky. In fact, it was so intense that very soon people taught that the ship would break up.
However, at that moment, Allah Almighty taught Nabi Nuh – peace be upon him – one of His Special Names and when he made Du’a through this Divine Name, the problem was rectified. It is reported that this Divine Name was “Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum”. This is also mentioned in the Taurah and through the Barakah of this, a ship is protected from sinking or being destroyed.
This Divine Name was also taught to Nabi Ebrahim – peace be upon him – when he was been placed into the fire. We all know that this fire became a source of peace for Nabi Ebrahim – peace be upon him.
It is also reported that when Nabi Ebrahim – peace be upon him – left his beloved son Nabi Ismail – peace be upon him – in Mecca Shareef, which was a barren place, he also taught him this Divine Name. He also taught him to make Du’a through this Blessed Names. It is also mentioned that this was mentioned also at that time when Zam Zam appeared from the ground. (Al Qalyubi)
