There is no doubt that one has to give account for every actions of his on the Day of Judgement. It is a most terrifying day which no one would be able to escape from. The Angels will adopt a most frightening appearance and people would be thrown in front to give account for their actions. We certainly make Du’a to Allah Almighty that we are protected from all of this on the Day of Judgement.
The first group that would be called forward would be the Prophets. They will not be questioned about their actions, but about the actions of their followers. Allah Almighty will ask them, “When you had delivered My message to your community, what answer did they give you?”
When the Prophets hear this question, they would be over-awed. In fact, so fearful would they be in front of Allah Almighty that they would simply reply that indeed He is Knower of all Unseen and He knows best.
This fact is mentioned in Surah Mai’dah verse 109:
“The day when Allah will gather the Messengers, then will say, ‘what answer was made to you,’ they will submit, ‘We have no knowledge, it is You only the Knower of all things unseen.”
There is no doubt that the Prophets are certainly aware of all things and are also aware of the Unseen, however, at that moment, they will have no answer in front of the Divine Splendour and Divine Awe of Allah Almighty.
Allah Almighty will then ask Nabi ‘Isa – peace be upon him – as is mentioned in Surah Ma’idah verse 116:
“And when Allah will say, ‘O ‘Isa son of Maryam! Did you tell to people, ‘make me and my mother two gods besides Allah’?”
When this question is asked, it is mentioned that Nabi ‘Isa – peace be upon him – will remain silent for a very long period and then finally answer as is again displayed in the same verse:
“He will submit ‘Glory be to You, it is not justified for me that I should tell the thing to which I have no reach. ‘If I had said that You would surely have known it You know what is in my heart and I do not know what is in Your knowledge. Undoubtedly, it is You only, Knower of, all hidden things.”
Thereafter, even the Angels will be called forward to give account.
When the people see this, they would be struck with even more fear and terror. Allah Almighty will then command Jibra’eel to present the Fire of Hell. Many Angels will then carry this forward. The Fire of Hell will display its immense heat and frightening sounds and people will fall on their knees in extreme fear and terror.
Allah Almighty will then call the disbelievers to give account for their deeds and they will certainly be humiliated.
Among the believers, some will be given their Record of Deeds in their right hand and some will be given their Record of Deeds in their left hand.
At the same time, the believers will be treated very gently. Some will be also given their Record of Deeds behind their backs. In Surah Inshiqaaq, verses 10 to 18:
“And whoever is given his Record of Deeds behind his back – Soon he will pray for death. And will go into the blazing Fire. Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. He assumed that he does not have to return. Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him.”
Based upon what we have just mentioned about the terrifying scene on the Day of Judgement, we make Du’a that Allah Almighty protect the Ahle Sunnah wa Jamaah from this. Ameen.
