Download PDF: [S] Rasoolullah’s Du’a for Barakah

Hadrat Sayyidina Abdur Rahman – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates from his father that on one expedition, he sought permission from Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – to slaughter a camel. As Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – heard this request, at that moment, Hadrat Sayyiduna ‘Umar – may Allah be pleased with him – appeared. He then said, “O Prophet of Allah, please do not give permission or else the riding animals would become less and it would be difficult for us to return.”

He then asked Hadrat Sayyiduna ‘Umar – may Allah be pleased with him – his opinion. Hadrat Sayyiduna ‘Umar – may Allah be pleased with him – replied, “Please collect all the small (food) items which are still with people and please make Du’a for Barakah. Through your Barakah, Allah Almighty will allow us to eat (and satisfy our hunger).”

“Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – then placed his shawl on the floor and ordered everyone to bring whatever little they had in their food containers. He then made a special Du’a and then ordered people to eat and also fill their food bags. After the people had filled their food bags, a small container of water was placed in front of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him. He then placed his blessed fingers in to this container and I swear that I could see with my own eyes water appear from his blessed fingers.

“He then commanded people to drink the water. People drank as much as they could and also filled their water containers. When Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – saw this, he smiled broadly until even his blessed teeth became visible and he then declared, “I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah Who is One and has no partners and without doubt Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.” (Imam Tabari in Ar Riyaz Al Asar)
