Allah
Almighty states in the Holy Quran:
Indeed nothing is hidden from the sight of
your Lord.
(Al-Fajr 89, Verse 14)
Tafseer:
Assuredly
your Lord is ever on the watch, watching over the deeds of servants, nothing of
which escapes Him, that He may then requite them for these [deeds].
(Tafseer
Jalalain)
Hadeeth:
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr and Mu’adh bin Jabal – may Allah be
pleased with them – reported: The Messenger of Allah – (may Allah send peace
and blessings upon him) – said, “Fear Allah wherever you are, follow a bad
deed with a good one, for it will wipe out the evil, and behave decently
towards people”.
(Tirmidhi, and said, “The Hadeeth is Hasan”)
This Extraordinary Taqwa
and Allah’s Fear:
One day, Nabi Esa alaihis Salaam went outside with a few
people to make Dua for rain. However,
the Almighty azza wa jall revealed to him, “O Esa! do not pray for rain because
there are sinners among you”. Nabi Esa
alaihis salaam then turned around and informed the people of this and he also
declared, “Those of you who are sinners, please return to your houses.” The
narrator of this incident relates that everyone returned to their homes except
one person who had only one eye. Looking
at him, Nabi Esa alaihis salaam asked, “Why did you also not return with the
others?”. He replied, “O Ruhullah! I have never disobeyed the Almighty azza wa
jall for one moment. However, one day,
by mistake, my eyes fell on the leg of a female and in embarrassment, I
immediately removed that eye and if my other eye had done the same, I would
have also removed that eye as well.” The narrator reveals that when Nabi Esa
alaihis salaam heard this, he began to weep until even his beard became wet
with his tears. He then asked this pious
person to make dua himself. However,
this person replied, “I seek refuge in Allah azza wa jall that I display (this
disrespect) of making dua while you are present and the one who is Ruhullah and
Kalimatullah” Nabi Esa alaihis salaam then began to make dua and it immediately
started to rain.
(Uyunul Hikaayaat).
Dear Muslims, with the passing of days and months, on
each occasion, we are taught lessons and we are also taught that after every
sadness, there is happiness. We also learn that, eventually, we will have to
face the grave. Piety is indeed real
gratitude to the Almighty azza wa jall. How
many mansions and palaces have we seen been destroyed in front of us? How many
owners have come and gone, and nobody even remembers their name!
Virtues Obliterate the
Evil:
Allah Almighty states this fact in the Holy Quran as follows:
No doubt, good deeds obliterate evil deeds. This is admonition for the persons accepting
admonition.
(Hood 11, Verse 114)
Best
amongst the Believers:
The Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings
upon him – has stated:
The best amongst the believers in Iman is he who is best amongst
them in behavior.
(Abu Dawood Hadeeth No. 4682)
Lesson:
- Virtues obliterate vices i.e. that the virtues
become an atonement for sin.
- One must fear Allah Almighty to one’s level best
both in public and privacy.
- People with good character and behavior will be
closest to the Holy Prophet – (may Allah send peace and blessings upon him) –
on the Day of Judgment.
