Allah Almighty states in the Holy Quran:

And remember when Issa son of Maryam, said, ‘O children of Israel, I am Allah’s Messenger to you, confirming the previous Book Tourat before me and conveying the glad news of the Messenger who will come after me, his name is Ahmad! ‘ But when Ahmed came to them with bright signs, they said, ‘this is an open magic.’

(Al-Saff 61, Verse 6)

Out of 12 months of a year, the 12th of Rabee’ al-Awwal shareef is beloved to a Muslim.  It refreshes his Iman and inspires his spirit of Iman.

Ye mehfil hai Aaqa ke aane ki mehfil

Ye mehfil hai qismat banaane ki mehfil

It is the celebration of our Master’s arrival

It’s the celebration of our prosperity

The blessed court of the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – is where one makes his fortune and it is also the place where failing to acknowledge its greatness, one wrong move and it all falls apart.

For example, Sayyiduna Bilal – may Allah be pleased with him – was an ordinary slave but ever since he embraced the doorsteps of the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – and became dear to Allah’s beloved, even the senior Sahaba, and especially those who had already made the members of Paradise, whenever they used to see Sayyiduna Bilal – may Allah be pleased with him, the following could sum up their sentiments:

Badr achcha hai falak par na hilaal achcha hai

Chashm-e-beena ho to dono se Bilaal achcha hai

Neither the full moon in the sky appears to be as good nor the subtle crescent

Bilaal surpasses the beauty of both if you have the spiritual insight

Sayyiduna ‘Umar – may Allah be pleased with him – often used to say the following upon seeing Sayyiduna Bilal – may Allah be pleased with him:

Bilal is our leader.

On the other hand, we have a person by the name of Tha’labah ibn Abi Hatib who was such a pious person and frequent the Masjid so often that people used to respectfully call him “Hamaamat al-Masjid (Pigeon of the Masjid)” but when he refused to pay Zakaat and the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – became angry at him and chased him away from his blessed court, he died in this rejected state but this stain of disobeying the command of RasoolAllah – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – was never removed from him and he was disgrace in both the worlds.

An ‘Arif billah has beautifully summarized this concept in the following She’r:

Aversion of his merciful gaze is the wrath of Allah

One who falls from his grace can never stand upright

The Quranic verse which I have mentioned earlier is the speech of Sayyiduna ‘Isa – peace be upon him, a great Prophet of Allah Almighty.  He delivered this speech addressing his nation Bani Israel.

When we look closely at the contents of his speech, we come to realize that the celebration of 12th Rabee’ al-Awwal shareef does not bring happiness only to us but it has also been a means of happiness and joy for the Ummah of Sayyiduna ‘Isa – peace be upon him – and his nation hundreds of years ago.

Listen to each word of this verse carefully and you will find out as to how he expressed happiness with regards to the Milad of RasoolAllah – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him.

And remember when Issa son of Maryam, said, ‘O children of Israel, I am Allah’s Messenger to you, confirming the previous Book Torah before me

As we recite this verse further, we see that when Sayyiduna ‘Isa – peace be upon him – conveyed the news of the arrival of our beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him, his choice of words is worth noticing here.  He conveyed this news with the words “the glad tidings”, as underlined in the following snippet of the translation, instead of saying “the news of his arrival” or “the announcement of his arrival” etc. but he rather chose to say “the glad tidings of his arrival”:

and conveying the glad tidings of the Messenger who will come after me, his name is Ahmad! ‘

(Al-Saff 61, Verse 6)

If Sayyiduna ‘Isa – peace be upon him – saw his arrival as a means of happiness and joy then we, as Muslim and as the Ummah of our beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – would certainly celebrate his Milad as such, regardless of who says what!

Rejoicing in the Celebration of Eid Milad al-Nabi :

Say you, ‘Only Allah’ grace and only His mercy, on it therefore let them rejoice. That is better than all their wealth.

(Yunus 10, Verse 58)

There can be no happier occasion in the life of a believer than to celebrate the Milad (blessed birthday) of the beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him.  The Muslim who is blessed with true Iman will definitely celebrate the Mubarak birth of the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – on the 12th Rabee’ al-Awwal shareef.

As we are aware that the Holy Quran was revealed at once in Lailat al-Qadr shareef and due to this reason, the virtue of this night increased thousand folds.  Allah Almighty therefore states in the Holy Quran the virtue of Lailat al-Qadr shareef as follows:

Undoubtedly, We sent it down in the blessed and valuable night.

And what did you know, what the blessed night is?

The blessed and valuable Night is better than a thousand months.

(Al-Qadr 97, Verse 1-3)

The one upon whose heart the entire Quran was revealed was born on the 12th Rabee’ al-Awwal shareef, hence its greatness excels that of Lailat al-Qadr as well.

Do ‘aalam ka haasil yahi barveeN hai

Meri Eid-e-kamil yahi barveeN hai

To me, the essence of both the worlds is in the 12th Rabee’ al-Awwal

My true Eid is on the 12th of Rabee’ al-Awwal shareef.
