So indeed with hardship is ease.
Tafsir al-Qurtubi
Indeed when Allah Almighty appointed His Prophet Muhammad – may Allah send peace and blessings upon hm – he was not financially well off so the polytheists teased him due to his poverty, so much so, that they even said to him, “We will accumulate wealth for you!” So he felt sad and thought that perhaps they did not believe in him due to him being poor, and then Allah Almighty showered him with excellent honours and reminded him of Allah’s bounties upon him and promised him riches in this verse i.e. Do not worry about their teasing of you due to your poverty because with hardship is ease to follow soon i.e. in this world and granted him what He had promised him. Before the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – passed away, he was victorious over Hijaz and Yemen and Allah Almighty increased him wealth as well, so much so that he donated 200 camels to a man.
Although it was specifically revealed concerning the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – but some of his Ummah is also included in it by the permission of Allah.
