کَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُوۡنَ
Yes certainly, you will soon realise!
Tafsir al-Kabeer التفسیر الکبیر
رُوِيَ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَشُكُّ فِي عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، حَتَّى سَمِعْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ تَدُلُّ عَلَى عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ
Sayyiduna Abu Dhar – may Allah be pleased with him – is reported to have said: I used to doubt in the punishment of the grave until I heard ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib – may Allah be pleased with him – say that this verse proves punishment of the grave.

Tafsir al-Qurtubi تفسیر القرطبی
فَتَضَمَّنَتِ السُّورَةُ الْقَوْلَ فِي عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ. وَقَدْ ذَكَرْنَا فِي كِتَابِ التَّذْكِرَةِ أَنَّ الْإِيمَانَ بِهِ وَاجِبٌ، وَالتَّصْدِيقَ بِهِ لَازِمٌ، حَسْبَمَا أَخْبَرَ بِهِ الصَّادِقُ، وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى يُحْيِي الْعَبْدَ الْمُكَلَّفَ فِي قَبْرِهِ، بِرَدِ الْحَيَاةِ إِلَيْهِ، وَيَجْعَلُ لَهُ مِنَ الْعَقْلِ فِي مِثْلِ الْوَصْفِ الَّذِي عَاشَ عَلَيْهِ، لِيَعْقِلَ مَا يُسْأَلُ عَنْهُ، وَمَا يُجِيبُ بِهِ، وَيَفْهَمَ مَا أَتَاهُ مِنْ رَبِّهِ، وَمَا أَعَدَّ لَهُ فِي قَبْرِهِ، مِنْ كَرَامَةٍ وَهَوَانٍ. وَهَذَا هُوَ مَذْهَبُ أَهْلِ السُّنَّةِ، وَالَّذِي عَلَيْهِ الْجَمَاعَةُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمِلَّةِ.
The Surah consists of the statement about punishment of the grave which we have mentioned in Kitab al-Tadhkirah that it is obligatory to believe in it and necessary to have faith in this regard. According to what the true informer (The Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him) has stated that indeed, Allah Almighty brings a responsible servant (i.e. adult and sane human or jinn) back to life in the grave and restores his intellect similar to what he had possessed, so he may understand the questions he is presented with and answer them accordingly and understand what he is given to him from His Lord and whatever is prepared for him in his grave; the honour thereof or the disgrace thereof. This is the creed of Ahlus Sunnah and of those who are upon the beliefs of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah.

Tafsir Rooh al-Bayaan تفسیر روح البیان
It is mentioned in the Hadeeth that 99 dragons are appointed over an infidel in his grave who continue to bite and torment him until the Day of Judgment. If one of those dragons were to blow onto the earth, no vegetation would grow on it.
