Allah Almighty has stated the following in the Holy Quran:

شَہۡرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِیۡۤ اُنۡزِلَ فِیۡہِ الْقُرْاٰنُ

The month of Ramadan in which Quran was sent down.

(Al-Baqarah 2, Verse 185)

The month of Ramadan is full of great virtues.  One of unique attributes of this blessed month is that Allah Almighty revealed the Holy Quran in this month.  There is a special connection between Ramadan and Quran.  Those who are blessed with the wealth of Iman recite the Holy Quran abundantly during the month of Ramadan and also listen to the entire Quran in Taraweeh Salah.

Quran is Guide, Cure & Mercy for the Believers:

Allah Almighty states:

‘O people! there has come an admonition to you from your Lord, and healing of hearts, and a guidance and a mercy for the believers.

(Yunus 10, Verse 57)

When our Master, Allah’s beloved Messenger, Muhammad Mustafa – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – was born, it was the age of ignorance (The age gap of approximately 570 years in which no Prophet was appointed after Nabi Isa – peace be upon him – was raised into heavens).  The people of Arabia considered themselves as proud custodians of eloquence and command over the Arabic language and dialect.  Allah Almighty bestowed such a Noble Book upon the beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – which includes the formula to cure all the physical and spiritual ailments.

The Eloquence of Allah’s Speech:

When the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – recited the Holy Quran, the people of high intellect and eloquence were dumb founded and found themselves helpless against the Divine Revelation.  There were those fortunate companions who embraced Islam after being inspired by the Holy Quran.

Hazrat Jubair ibn Mut’im – may Allah be pleased with him – was considered to be one of the most eloquent personalities of Arabia.  One day when he was present in the blessed court of the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – while he was reciting Surah Toor in Fajr Salah.  Hazrat Jubair ibn Mut’im continued to listen to the recitation, and when he heard the following verses:

اِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّکَ لَوٰقِعٌ ۙ﴿۷﴾

Surely, the torment of your Lord is certainly to occur,

There is none to avert it.

(Al-Toor 52, Verse 7-8)

He says, “I felt as if the punishment of Allah was heading towards me.  The hair of my body stood up due to the fear of Allah.  I acknowledged the excellence of Quran in my heart and embraced Islam by reading Kalimah.

(E’jaaz al-Quran p. 40)

Hazrat Umar – may Allah be pleased with him – used to be such an ardent enemy of the beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – that one day he left home with the intention to kill him but when he listen to the recitation of Surah Taha, the darkness of his kufr was taken away by the light of Quran and changed the condition of his heart instantly.  He embraced Islam alhamdulillah.

‘Atabah ibn Rabee’ah was one of the greatest and most eloquent orators of the Quraish but when he heard the few initial verses of Surah Haa-Meem from the blessed lips of the beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – he was struck with immense fear and dominance of Allah’s Jalaal.  He approached the Quraish in that state and told them that whatever Muhammad (may Allah send peace and blessings upon him) reads is neither poetry nor is it magic or soothsaying but it has such a spiritual impact that we find ourselves helpless and submit to it with all our hearts.  It creates Allah’s fear in the heart and by God, we do not have any match for even one word of his.

(E’jaaz al-Quran p. 41)

Hazrat Dhammad ibn Tha’lebah – may Allah be pleased with him – who was an expert doctor, visited Makkah Mukarramah.  He saw the beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – going somewhere.  He saw a group of boys running after him.  The infidels of Makkah used to call him a madman.  When he saw the group of boys running after him, he also thought that he might be a madman.  He approached the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – and said, “O Muhammad, I know how to cure madness, please allow me.”  Our beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – chanted the Praise and Glory of Allah Almighty and recited few verses of the Holy Quran.  Dhammad ibn Tha’lebah says, “I was so overwhelmed by the effects of the recitation that my heart began to tremble and I embraced the religion of Islam.

(Musnad Ahmed Vol. 1, p. 202)

When Hazrat Ja’far – may Allah be pleased with him – appeared before the king Najjashi – may Allah be pleased with him – in his court and recited few verses of Surah Maryam, the king began to cry due to the overwhelming emotions.

(Musnad Ahmed Vol. 1, p. 202)

Quran has answer to every Question:

There are various religions in the world today, each with a book of its own.  They all present a book to claim the truthfulness of its creed.  Zaboor (Psalm), Torah and Injeel (Bible) are indeed revealed books of Allah but none of the scriptures are free from interpolation in today’s time.  They can no longer be trusted because they all have been changed from their original forms.  No other scriptures besides the Holy Quran is in its original form.  It is only the Quran that has remain unchanged for 14 centuries now and neither will it ever accept the interpolation of any sort.  Allah Almighty states:

No doubt, We have sent down this Quran, and We most surely are its Guardian.

(Al-Hajar 15, Verse 9)

The Holy Quran has always been the guide for anyone seeking the true path and it will continue to guide the mankind.  The Holy Quran is the proof for the truthfulness of Islam and one of the greatest miracles of the beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him.

If we were compare other books and looked for the proof of their own existence, they will not be able to provide any substance but when we inquire about the Holy Quran, we get all our questions answered by the Quran itself.

Let us ask Quran about its name, and it will answer in the following manner:

ہُوَ قُرْاٰنٌ مَّجِیۡدٌ ﴿ۙ۲۱﴾

It is a glorious Quran.

In well-guarded tablet.

(Al-Burooj 85, Verse 21-22)

If one asks Quran who it came from, it would reply:

تَنۡزِیۡلٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّ الْعٰلَمِیۡنَ ﴿۸۰﴾

It is a revelation from the Lord of all beings.

(Al-Waaqi’ah 56, Verse 80)

If one were to find out whom it was revealed to, the Quran would respond:

نُزِّلَ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ

It was revealed upon Mohammad (may Allah send peace and blessings upon him).

(Muhammad 47, Verse 2)

If one inquires about the purpose for which it was revealed, the Quran would declare:

ہُدًی لِّلنَّاسِ

As a guide for the people.

(Al-Baqarah 2, Verse 185)

If we ask when it was revealed, the Holy Quran will reply:

شَہۡرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِیۡۤ اُنۡزِلَ فِیۡہِ الْقُرْاٰنُ

The month of Ramadan in which Quran was sent down.

(Al-Baqarah 2, Verse 185)

During the day or night?

Undoubtedly, We sent it down in the blessed and valuable night.

(Al-Qadr 97, Verse 1)

The salvation is both the worlds is in following the teachings of the Holy Quran with the love of beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him.  We have the solution for all our problems within this Noble Book of Allah.  It is our responsibility to turn to it and recite and understand it, and become a practicing Muslim.  One of the main reasons of our decline is the abandonment of Quranic teachings and following into the ways of kuffar.

Torah, Zaboor and Injeel etc. were revealed in the month of Ramadan:

The scriptures of other Prophets – peace be upon him – were revealed in the blessed month of Ramadan.

  • The scriptures of Hazrat Ibrahim – peace be upon him – were revealed on the first day of Ramadan.
  • Torah was revealed on the 6th
  • Zaboor and Injeel were revealed on the 13th

(Tafseer ibn Katheer)

Best of people are those who learn and teach Quran:

Our beloved Master – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has stated:

خَیْرُکُمْ مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْاٰنَ وَعَلَّمَہُ

The best amongst you is the one who learns the Quran and teaches it.

(Bukhari Vol. 2, p. 752; Mishkaat p. 183)

The Aalim of Quran will be with the Angels:

Our beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has stated:

اَلْمَاھِرُ بِالْقُرْاٰنِ مَعَ السَّفَرَۃِ الْکِرَامِ الْبَرَرَۃِ

The Aalim of Quran will be in the company of esteemed Angels.

(Bukhari Vol. 2, p. 1125; Tirmidhi Vol. 2, p. 118; Mishkaat p. 184)

10 virtues upon reciting a single letter of the Holy Quran:

Our beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has stated that one received 10 virtues upon reciting each and every letter of the Holy Quran and 10 sins are forgiven as well.  He further said:

Alif Laam Meem is not just one letter but Alif is a letter, Laam is a separate letter and Meem is a separate letter.

Whoever recites it, Allah Almighty bestows 30 virtues upon him and forgives 30 sins of his, and Allah’s Mercy descends at the place where Quran is recited.

(Tirmidhi Vol. 2, p. 119; Miishkaat p. 186)

Hazrat Abdullah ibn Abbaas – may Allah be pleased with him – has narrated from the beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – saying that the chest which does not have Quran in it is like a deserted house.

(Kanzul ‘Ummaal Vol. 3, p. 258)

Respect of a Hafiz is the respect of RasoolAllah – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him

The beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has commanded us to respect the Huffaaz of the Holy Quran and further stated:

فَمَنْ اَکْرَمَھُمْ فَقَدْ اَکْرَمَنِیْ

Whoever respects them indeed he has respected me.

(Kanzul ‘Ummaal Vol. 2, p. 258)

The Honour of a Hafiz’s parents

Our beloved Master – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has stated that whoever recites the Holy Quran, learns it and then acts upon it, will be awarded a crown which will shine like the moon and his parents will be awarded an attire which value will exceed the entire world.  The parents will ask the reason for this honour and will be told that it is due to their child’s Quran recitation.

(Abu Dawood Vol. 1 p. 205; Mustadrak Vol. 1 p. 756)

A Hafiz will intercede for 10 relatives

Our beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has stated that the one who recites Quran, memorized it and learned the Halaal and Haraam in it, Allah Almighty will accept intercession regarding those family members of his upon whom entrance to Jahannam would become incumbent.

(Tirmidhi Vol. 2, p. 118; Ibn Majah)

The Reward of One-third Quran

Our beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has said:

Do you find yourselves incapable of reciting one-third Quran every night?  People replied, “Who can recite one-third Quran every night?”  The Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – then stated, “Surah Ikhlas is equivalent to one-third recitation of the Holy Quran.”

(Bukhari Vol. 2, p. 750; Muslim Vol. 1, p. 271; Ibn Majah p. 268)

It is clear from the Hadeeth that if the reward of a single recitation of Surah Ikhlas is equivalent to that of reciting one-third Quran then the one who recites it 3 times will receive the reward of reciting the entire Quran.

Allahu Akbar!

Satan runs away from the house!

Hazrat Abu Hurairah – may Allah be pleased with him – narrated that the beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has stated:

Do not turn your homes into graveyards.  Satan runs away from a house in which Surah Baqarah is recited.

(Tirmidhi Vol. 2, p. 115; Mishkaat p. 184)

The Ahadeeth conclude that the house where the Quran is not recited is like a graveyard and the chest which does not have Quran in it is like a deserted house.  Let us make firm intention that we will recite the Holy Quran and act on it.

Cleansing of the Heart

Hazrat ibn Umar – may Allah be pleased with him – narrated that our beloved Master – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – stated, “The hearts have the tendency to become rusty like how the iron attracts rust when it comes in contact with water.”  We asked, “Ya RasoolAllah, how can we clean the rust?”

He stated: By constantly remembering death and reciting Quran.

(Mishkaat p. 189)

The Recitation of Quran is Noor

Our beloved Master – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has stated:

Recite the Holy Quran, for it will be your light in the world and it would become your treasure chest of virtues in the heavens.

(Kanzul ‘Ummaal Vol. 1, p. 268)

Quran will intercede

Allah’s beloved Messenger – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has stated:

اِقْرَؤُا الْقُرْاٰنَ فَاِنَّہُ یَاْتِیْ یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَۃِ شَفِیْعًا لِاَصْحَابِہٖ

Recite Quran, for it will come to intercede for its companions on the Day of Judgment.

(Muslim Vol. 1, p. 270)

Jannah became Waajib upon the recitation of Surah Ikhlas!

Once the beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – saw someone reciting Surah Ikhlas and said:

وَجَبَتْ

It has become Waajib!

Hazrat Abu Hurairah – may Allah be pleased with him – asked, “What has become Waajib?” He replied:

Jannah has become Waajib!

(Tirmidhi Vol. 2, p. 117; Mishkaat p. 188)

Blessings of Surah Fatiha

Our beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has stated that Hazrat Jibreel – peace be upon him – came and said, “Ya RasoolAllah, I swear by Allah who has sent you as a Messenger!  If all the water on earth were to turn into ink and all the trees turn into pens and all the planets and heavens become writing surface, and all the angels and humans take on the task of writing down the blessings of Surah Fatiha from the beginning of creation till today, they would have failed to do so!”

(Hasht Bahisht)

The statement of Maula Ali – may Allah be pleased with him

Ameerul Mu’mineen Sayyiduna Ali – may Allah be pleased with him – has stated, “If I were to write the Tafseer of Surah Fatiha, it would become so vast that it could only be carried by 70 camels.”

(Footnotes of Al-Dawlatul Makkiyyah p. 37)

Surah Fariha is the cure for all ailments (which are otherwise incurable)

Hazrat Khwaja Ghareeb Nawaaz – may Allah be pleased with him – has stated that Surah Fatiha contains the cure for all sorts of diseases.  If one has an illness which is incurable then recite Surah Fatiha 41 times with ﷽ between Sunnah and Fard of Fajr Salah and blow on the patient, he or she will be cured.

Khwaja Ghareeb Nawaaz – may Allah be pleased with him – has also stated the following:

اَلْفَاتِحَۃُ شِفَاءٌ مِنْ کُلِّ دَاءٍ

Surah Fatiha is Shifa for all diseases.

One who recites Surah Fatiha, Allah Almighty blesses him or her with the reward of 1,24,000 Prophets – peace be upon them.

(Sunan al-Daarimi Vol. 2, p. 538; Hasht Bahisht)

AlaHazrat – may Allah be pleased with him – writes that our beloved Master – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has stated:

‘Ulama will never be satisfied with Quran, and no matter how many times the Quran is recited, it will never get old and its marvels will never end.

It is in Tirmidhi and Ashi’’at al-Lam’aat that i.e. The knowledge of Quran can never be contained, and therefore, the Ulama will never be satisfied with it.

(Footnotes of Al-Dawlatul Makkiyyah p. 37)

Miracle of Quran (The blind blessed with eyesight)

Khwaja Ghareeb Nawaaz – may Allah be pleased with him – says that the one who looks at the Holy Quran, by the Mercy of Allah, his eyesight becomes stronger and the pain goes away.  He narrated the story of a saint who had a blind visitor for its cure.  The saint recited Surah Fatiha and rubbed the Quran over his eyes, and both his eyes were blessed with vision.

Allahu Akbar!

(Daleelul Aarifeen)

Hazrat Khwaja Ghareeb Nawaaz – may Allah be pleased with him – narrated the story of a sinner who was granted Jannah by Allah Almighty.  When people saw him in the dream after he had passed away, they asked him the reason for his salvation in the hereafter despite him being known for his vices.  He replied that no matter how many sins I committed but I had one quality which Allah Almighty loved about me.  Whenever I used to Quran anywhere I used to stand up with respect and look at the Quran with Adab.  Allah Almighty entered me into Jannah by the virtues of respecting His Kalaam.

(Hasht Bahisht)

Quran’s Heart – Surah Yaseen

Our beloved Master – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has stated that everything has a heart, and the heart of Quran is Surah Yaseen.  Whoever recites Yaseen Allah Almighty rewards him with the virtues of 10 full Quran recitation.  Whoever reads Surah Yaseen for the pleasure of Allah Almighty will be forgiven, therefore read it by your deceased.

(Sunan Daarimi Vol. 2, p. 548; Tirmidhi Vol. 2, p. 116; Mishkaat p.  187)

Allah sends astray many by it and guides many

Allah declares in the Holy Quran about those who read the Quran with ulterior motive:

یُضِلُّ بِہٖ کَثِیۡرًاۙ وَّیَہۡدِیۡ بِہٖ کَثِیۡرًا

Allah sends astray many by it and guides many.

(Al-Baqarah 2, Verse 26)

Quran is the same but the one who reads it with the love of the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – will receive Allah’s guidance but if the who reads it is bereft of the love will be misguided by the very Quran.

Hazrat ‘Umar – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has stated that there are many whom Allah has elevated in ranks through this Noble Book and there many whom He has disgraced.

(Musliim)

The Worst of Creation – Khawaarij

Hazrat Abdullah ibn Umar – may Allah be pleased with him – always considered the khawaarij to be the worst of creation and used to say the following:

اِنَّھُمْ اِنْطَلَقُوْا اِلٰی اٰیَاتٍ نُزِلَتْ فِیْ الْکُفَّارِ فَجَعَلُوْھَا عَلَی الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ

They took the verses that were revealed about the infidels and branded the believers as such.

(Bukhari Vol. 2, p. 1024)

Protect your Imaan

It is about time that we take heed and be vigilant in protecting our precious Imaan from those who apparently have beard on their face, tasbeeh in hand, Kalimah and Salah on the lips but in reality, they are not Muslim!

They may read Quran, quote Bukhari like there is no tomorrow and totally misinterpret the implications of Quranic verses and Ahadeeth and deceive the innocent Muslims with their twisted version of Tableegh, as a result of this manipulation, a sincere Muslim may lose his Imaan…  It is therefore very important to not only look at the Quran but also see who is holding it and representing the Quran.  If he is a true Mumin then Alhamdulillah but if not then act on the warning of Hadeeth and the Quran and save your Iman.

The wahabies, deobandis and tableeghis etc use the same formula which is disgusted by Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Umar – may Allah be pleased with him – in the Hadeeth of Bukhari.  They have divided the Ummah into sects using their disgusting strategies.  The verses that were revealed about the idols etc. they took the same verses and implemented on the beloved friends of Allah, Awliya and Ambiya etc.

Always remember the warning of the Holy Quran:

یُضِلُّ بِہٖ کَثِیۡرًاۙ وَّیَہۡدِیۡ بِہٖ کَثِیۡرًا

Allah sends astray many by it and guides many.

(Al-Baqarah 2, Verse 26)

Ayatul Kursi and the Knowledge of Unseen bestowed upon the beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – by Allah Almighty

Hazrat Abu Hurairah – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that the beloved Nabi – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – once appointed him to guard the crops.  During the night there came a man and tried to steal the crops but Hazrat Abu Hurairah caught him.  He began to cry and begged him to have mercy because his family was in dire need of it.  Hazrat Abu Hurairah – may Allah be pleased with him – let him go.  Next day, the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – came and asked about the thief of last night.  He said to Hazrat Abu Hurairah – may Allah be pleased with him – that the thief had lied and will come again.  The thief appeared again and the same happened after Hazrat Abu Hurairah – may Allah be pleased with him – felt sorry for him and the next day, he reported the same to the beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him.  When the thief came during the third night and was caught again, he begged for mercy but this time Hazrat Abu Hurairah – may Allah be pleased with him – did not let him go but then he told Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah – may Allah be pleased with him – a secret if he lets him go.  He told him that if he goes to bed after reciting Ayatul Kursi, Allah Almighty will appoint an angel for his safety throughout the night and no satan will come close to him all night.  When he narrated the whole incident to the beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – the next day, he stated, “Though he is a big liar but he has spoken the truth.  Do you know who you have been dealing with these past three nights?”  He replied, “No.”  Huzoor said, “It was satan.”

(Bukhari Vol. 1, p. 310; Mishkaat p. 185)

Blessings of Bismillah

Hazrat Ali – may Allah be pleased with him – has stated that whoever recites Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem properly, will be forgiven.

(Kanzul ‘Umaal)

Father attains salvation through the recitation of his son

Once the Nabi of Allah Hazrat Isa – peace be upon him – walked past a grave and saw that the deceased was being punished but upon returning from his journey when he passed by the grave again, he saw that the Mercy of Allah was showering on the very same grave.  Hazrat Isa – peace be upon him – was astonished to see that and asked Allah Almighty to help him understand the situation.

Allah Almighty replied, “This man was a sinner which is why he was captured in torment but when he had passed away, his wife was pregnant and today, his child went to Madrasah and recited Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem.  I felt Merciful towards him while his own blood is chanting My Name in the world.

(Tafseer Na’eemi)

Our pious predecessors only succeeded through the Islamic values and its preservation and by practicing the commands of the Holy Quran.

May Allah Almighty grant us Taufeeq and Divine Help to strive in His path and follow His Commands and the Sunnah of His beloved Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – and the footsteps of the Awliya and Righteous Ulama of Islam and Ahlus Sunnah Jama’ah.

Ameen!
