This is starting point of the praises of Ahle Bayt in the Salam from here on.

Who are the Ahle Bayt:

The family of the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – consists of the following members:

  • His blessed wives (mothers of the believers)
  • Hazrat Ali (his cousin and son-in-law)
  • Hazrat Fatimah and his other daughters
  • Hazrat Imam Hasan and Husain (may Allah be pleased with all)

At this juncture, only his daughters and grandsons are focus of attention, for the praises of the mothers of believers and the Caliphs will be mentioned as separate entities further on.

The status of Ahle Bayt in Quran and Hadeeth:

Allah Almighty states in the Holy Quran:

قُلۡ لَّاۤ اَسْـَٔلُکُمْ عَلَیۡہِ اَجْرًا اِلَّا الْمَوَدَّۃَ فِی الْقُرْبٰیؕ

“I ask not of you any wage for it but affection in respect of family.”

(Al-Shu’ara, Verse 23)

Hazrat Zaid ibn Arqam – may Allah be pleased with him – reports that the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has stated:

“O people, I am but a human, and soon I shall depart from this world.  I leave among you two things; 1. Quran, and 2. My Ahle Bayt.”

(Muslim, Ch. The Excellence of Hazrat Ali)

Hazrat Abu Sa’eed Kkhudri – may Allah be pleased with him – reports that the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has stated:

“I take oath by the one in whose hand my life is, whoever has enmity with my Ahle Bayt Allah Almighty will throw them in hellfire.”

(Al-Mustadrak Vol. 3, p. 150)

One day, Hazrat Abu Dhar Ghifaari – may Allah be pleased with him – held onto the door of the Holy Ka’bah and said, “Those who know me, so be it, and those who do not, then I am Abu Dhar, and I have heard the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – stating:

‘My Ahle Bayt are the likes of the ark of (Prophet) Noah (peace be upon him); whoever boards it will attain salvation and whoever got left behind will be drowned’.”

(Al-Mustadrak Vol. 3, p. 15)
