Sayyidah Ayesha – may Allah be pleased with her – mentions that once the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – mentioned to her, “I am aware of when you are pleased and when you are angry?”
She then asked the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – how he becomes aware of this.
He replied, “When you are pleased, you say, ‘I swear by the Lord of Muhammed and when you are angry you swear by the Lord of Ebrahim.’”
She replied that this was indeed the truth which was revealed by the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him. She also admitted that even though his blessed name was omitted but there was no decrease in her heart for the immense love and respect she had for him. (Mishkaat Shareef)
Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Zubair – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates from Hadrat Sayyidah Asma binte Abu Bakr – may Allah be pleased with her – who explains that, “When her blessed father migrated to Madina Shareef with the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – he also took all the money which was in the house and which was about five or six thousand Dirhams.
“At that time, my grandfather, Abu Quhafah, appeared and he was blind and said to me, ‘I swear by Allah that besides putting you in immense danger, he has also placed you in immense financial stress as well.’ (By taking all the money which was in the house). I replied that this was indeed not the case.”
She reports that there was a piece of stone laying on one side of the house and she had this wrapped in a piece of cloth and placed this on the hands of her grandfather. (Bear in mind that he was blind).
She then said to him, “He has left this for us and he has wrapped this in a piece of cloth.”
(He began satisfied) and remarked, “If he has left this for you, then it is better.”
However, the great lady admits that, “In reality, we swear in the Name of Allah that Abu Bakr – may Allah be pleased with him – left nothing for us.” (Kitaab Al Azkiyah)
In fact, when it comes to this family, there are no words left in any language through which we can describe the real status of this family.
Ibn Zinaad narrates that this blessed lady also had a blessed kamees of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him. However, when her bless son, Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdullah in Zubair – may Allah be pleased with him – was martyred, this kameez went missing. She also mentioned to people around her that she was even more saddened by the fact this blessed kamees had gone missing than the martyrdom of her beloved son.
However, later it was found that this kamees was actually in the possession of the very person who had martyred her beloved son. The murderer also mentioned to others that if the blessed lady pardoned him for this murder, he was prepared to hand over the kamees to her. She then said to people, “How can I actually pardon the person who martyred Abdullah ibn Zubair?”
She mentioned that the person could come forward. When he came forward, he was also accompanied by Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Urwah – may Allah be pleased with him. She instructed that the blessed kamees be handed over to Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Urwah – may Allah be pleased with him. When this person handed over the blessed kamees to Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Urwah – may Allah be pleased with him – the blessed lady declared, “May Allah forgive you, O Abdullah”.
In fact, her Du’a was directed at Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Urwah – may Allah be pleased with him – and not at the killer himself. In fact the killer was under the impression that she had pardoned him because she used the word, “Abdullah” which means the slave of Allah and he was under the false impression that she had simply called him the “slave of Allah.” (Kitaab Al Azkiyah)
In this manner, she achieved two important objectives. The first was that she managed to acquire the blessed Tabarruk and the second was that she was spared from forgiving the despicable killer of her blessed son.
