Download PDF: [S] The Saint who bought a Tambourine
It is mentioned that once Hadrat Sayyiduna Ebrahim bin Adham – may Allah be pleased with him – was walking and in front of him there was a young man who was completely drunk on his horse. The young man then lashed the great Saint with his whip and asked him to carry the container of wine on his head.
When they reached the house of this young man, they noticed that there was a singer inside this house who was entertaining everyone. When they entered the room, since the young man was extremely drunk, he then took the tambourine and hit Hadrat Sayyiduna Ebrahim bin Adham – may Allah be pleased with him – on his head. Not only did he crack the blessed head of the Saint, but the tambourine itself was also broken into pieces. The great Saint then went to the river Dajlah and washed his wound and his clothes.
There is no doubt that the ways of the Saints are certainly truly amazing. In fact, their thinking is also completely separate from others. In fact, Hadrat Sayyiduna Ebrahim bin Adham – may Allah be pleased with him – was not worried about himself. He was thinking about the tambourine which had been damaged and he was holding himself responsible for this. He then went home and taking his Musallah, he went to the market place to sell it. He then took the money to the house of the young man and apologised for being the reason why his tambourine had been destroyed and handed him the money. When this young man saw this, he was completely lost for words. He then sincerely apologised to Hadrat Sayyiduna Ebrahim bin Adham – may Allah be pleased with him. (Khayrul Majaalis)
