Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Aseelah Muradi – may Allah be pleased with him – is famous with the title of “Abu Abdullah Sanaabeh”. He is reported to have left for Madina Shareef to meet Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – but five or six days earlier, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – had departed from this world.

Although he was not blessed with the status of being a blessed companion, he is considered as among the eminent Taaba’een of his era. He acquired Ahadith from the four rightly guided Khulafah and also the from the mother of the faithful, Sayyidah Ayesha – may Allah be pleased with her.

He also joined in the expedition of Egypt and was part of the army which eventually conquered Egypt. Khalifah Abdul Malik bin Marwan showed immense respect for him. In fact, whenever he arrived in the court of the Khalifah, he was allowed to sit next to the Khalifah. In fact, he was so respected among the people of his era that even the blessed Ashaab accorded him great respect.

It is mentioned that one day when Hadrat Sayyiduna Abaadah bin Saamit – may Allah be pleased with him – became ill, many people went to the visit the eminent companion and among them was Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdullah Sanaabeh – may Allah be pleased with him.

When the eminent companion saw him, he remarked, “If one wants to see someone who was taken to the heavens so that he could see Jannah and the Fire and Hell and then brought back to earth to make Ibadah, then that person should look at Abu Abdullah Sanaabeh – may Allah be pleased with him – because the state of his Ibadah is such that one gets the impression that he has already seen Jannah and the Fire of Hell.”

Hadrat Sayyiduna Imam Bukhari – may Allah be pleased with him – has also mentioned him in the “Taarikh Awsat” and that he passed away in between 70 and 80 A.H. He is also included among the names of the Muhadditheen.
