Hadrat Sayyiduna Aqeel – may Allah be pleased with him – mentions that once the Quraish came in a group to visit his father Abu Talib. They then said, “O Abu Talib! The son of your brother enters our gatherings and groups and mentions that things which are very troublesome to us. If it is possible for you, we would ask you to stop him approaching us.”

Hadrat Sayyiduna Aqeel – may Allah be pleased with him – mentions that he his father then asked him to go and call the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him. When the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – was standing before his uncle, his uncle said to him, “O my beloved nephew! I swear by my Lord that you are also fully aware of how much I love you. Your tribe has come to me and have claimed that you approach them near the Ka’ba and enter their gatherings and you make them hear things which are causing them trouble. If you think it correct, please stop from approaching them.”

In another report, it is mentioned that Abu Talib mentioned to the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, “O my beloved nephew! Your nation has approached me and said such and such a thing.  There please have mercy on my state and do not place such a large burden on me which neither of us can carry. Therefore, that which the nation feels uneasy with, please desist from (saying) that.”

When the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – heard these startling words from his uncle, it seemed like his uncle had changed his stance (of support for him). It also seemed like his uncle was about to embarrass him and had become soft in supporting him and it seemed like his uncle had handed him over the Quraish.

However, in spite of all of this, the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him –declared, “O my uncle! If they place the sun on my right hand and the moon on my left, still too, I will not desist from doing what I have to do until the Deen of Allah Allah does not overtake all (other) beliefs. Or even if I am destroyed through this (effort). ”

It is said that the eyes of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – then filled with tears. As he was walking away but his uncle stopped him and declared, “Go! You may continue to do whatever you wish and as long as I am alive, not a single hair of yours will be touched.” (Tabarani, Bahiqi, Al Bidaayah)
