Download PDF: [S] The Barakah of the Graves of the Pious

The blessed grave of Hadrat Sayyiduna Moosa Kaazim – may Allah be pleased with him – is situated at a place called Kaazimain in Baghdad Shareef. Pertaining to this blessed grave, the famous Muhaddith, Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Khilaal – may Allah be pleased with him – stated, “Whenever I experience any difficulty and present myself at the blessed grave of Hadrat Sayyiduna Moosa Kaazim – may Allah be pleased with him, through his Wasilah, Allah Almighty fulfills my need.”

 

In like manner, Khateeb Baghdad states about the blessed grave of Hadrat Sayyiduna Ma’ruf Kharkhi – may Allah be pleased with him. He states, “There is no doubt that the blessed grave of Hadrat Sayyiduna Ma’ruf Kharkhi – may Allah be pleased with him – is certainly a place where the need of someone is fulfilled.” It is also reported that if one recites Surah Ikhlaas a hundred times at this blessed grave and makes Du’a, his Du’a would certainly be accepted.

 

The same has been mentioned about the blessed grave of Hadrat Sayyiduna Imam A’zam Abu Hanifah – may Allah be pleased with him – by Hadrat Sayyiduna Imam Shafi – may Allah be pleased with him. He has mentioned that, “There is no doubt that I am able to receive Barakah from Imam Abu Hanifah – may Allah be pleased with him – and every day I visit his blessed grave. Whenever I have any urgent need, I perform two rak’ah of Salaah and make Du’a to Allah Almighty at this blessed grave. It does not take very long for my need to be fulfilled.” (Taarikhe Baghdad, Khateeb)

 

From the words and statements of these eminent saints and scholars, there is no doubt that the Du’a of a person is certainly accepted at the graves and Mazaars of the pious. We also come to realise and understand that this has always been the behaviour of our pious predecessors and if this was their belief and faith, why should we turn away from it? If we do, then it means that we are certainly not following the guidelines of Islam. The sad part is that there are many ignoramus who make the claim that to make the intention to visit the grave of any pious person is Shirk and Bid’ah. What would they have to say about giants of Islam which we have presented and their behaviour?

 

As a matter of fact, these false sects had actually declared the entire Ummah as Mushriks and Bida’tis with one single stroke of their pen. One gets the impression that like the people of the Bani Israeel who went out of their way to blacken the name of Juraij simply because he was a dedicated servant of Allah Almighty, these people are trying to do the same with the people of the Ahle Sunnah wa Jamaah simply because they are on the right path. However, like the small child who spoke the truth while in the cradle, in like manner, on the Day of Judgement when the truth of the Ahle Sunnah wa Jamaah is displayed and when these people try to come closer to the Ahle Sunnah wa Jamaah, it would be too late for them. The precondition of Imaan is to believe without seeing and when the truth is revealed, at that time, it would be too late to accept.
