It is mentioned that one day Iblees appeared in front of Pharaoh and asked him, “Do you recognize whom I am?” Pharaoh replied that yes, he recognized who it was.

Satan then said to Pharaoh, “You have one quality in you which has even surpassed me.” When Pharaoh asked him which quality this was, he replied, “It is this that you have even claimed to be god. There is no doubt that I am more elderly than you, I have more knowledge than you and I have more power than you, but I have never ever made that claim which you made.”

Pharaoh replied that he was correct. He then mentioned to Satan that he was now going to seek pardon for this mistake. However, Satan in his usual evil manner mentioned to him. “Stop, do not seek pardon for this mistake because the people of Egypt have generally accepted you are their god. If you make Taubah for this, the people will turn away from you. They will also become your ardent enemies and also try to steal this country from you. In this manner, you will then become the most humiliated person on earth.”

When Pharaoh heard this, he replied, “Yes, what you are saying is correct. However, is there someone on earth besides me who you have seen as more evil?”

Satan replied, “Yes, that person in front of whom one apologises and presents his valid excuse (for causing any inconvenience) and he does not accept this, without doubt, that person is worse than me and you.”

Thereafter, Satan departed.

There is no doubt that on both of these evil people, there is the Divine Curse of Allah Almighty. If we look at the manner of Satan, we will clearly see the manner in which he deceives people. Through one hand he hands them a sweet and through another hand, he allows them to consume poison. A person who looks at this thinks that he is actually doing good but, when he studies this carefully, he will see that he is doing nothing but falling into the trap of the Satan.
