There was once a Jewish lady whose name was ‘Asmaa’a who used to recite poetry insulting Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him. She used to create all types of hardships for Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him. She showed extreme hatred towards the Muslims and towards Islam. In fact, she was such a filthy woman that she used to even throw a cloth which had blood from her monthly menses into the Masjid. When Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – was in Badr, she continued to insult Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – through her poetry.

 

When Hadrat Sayyiduna Umair – may Allah be pleased with him – heard about this, he was extremely angry. He also took an oath that if the Muslims returned from Badr successfully, he would certainly teach this lady a severe lesson.

 

When the Muslims returned successfully from Badr, Hadrat Sayyiduna Umair – may Allah be pleased with him – went in search of this evil female. He entered her house when it was dark and when everyone was asleep, he this killed evil female.

 

After completing his oath, he returned to his house. In the morning, after the Fajr Salaah, he revealed to Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – what he had done. He also wanted to know whether there would be any retribution against him according to Islamic law. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – mentioned that there was nothing for him to account for and also displayed immense joy for his action.

 

Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – also mentioned to the other blessed companions, “If you wish to see someone who had helped Allah Almighty and His Prophet in secret, then you may look at Umair bin Adi.”
