Mohammed bin Jafer bin Yahya bin Khalid bin Barmak narrates:

“When I grandfather, Yahya bin Khalid bin Barmak was in jail, my father asked him, ‘We had lived in royal splendour and pomp and people used to obey our command. We were extremely rich and influential and yet today, we sit in jail. We have been made to wear ordinary clothes, what is the reason for this.’

“My grandfather replied, ‘O my son! There is no doubt that the voice of the oppressed is heard very clearly at night and we were oblivious of this voice. However, this voice is not hidden from the Divine Creator Who is All Knowing and All Aware.’ He then read a few lines which were:

‘How many nations have passed the morning in pomp and pleasure? And the era in which they lived, they were also pampered with pleasure. However, the actual subjects remained silent and yet, when they spoke, these are the same people who shed tears of blood.’” (Uyunul Hikaayah)

Allah Almighty keep us in his Divine Protection. May He also protect us against the oppressors and also give us the strength to be in the company of the oppressed and also be among those who help and support them. Ameen.

A person should also be aware all the time of the Divine Retribution of Allah Almighty. When we are allowed a few moments of happiness, this should not make us oblivious of the Divine Creator. Remember that the Divine Power of Allah Almighty can be displayed at any moment. We should also always never allow the poor and destitute to curse us.

Bear in mind that when you are caught in the Divine Court for this oppression, there is no one that will be able to help and assist you at that time. Remember that the Du’a of an oppressed person is very quickly accepted. Muslims should refrain from oppressing others. We have no idea what is the Secret Divine Plan which may unfold itself at any moment.
