Allah Almighty states:
And hold fast, all together, by the rope of Allah, and be not divided among yourselves.
(Aale ‘Imraan 3, Verse 103)
All the animals besides human beings have been created commonly in the same manner in every era; such as goats, cows, crows and frogs etc. all the animals and birds of the world are similar to one another in color, voice, and their foods. The food, voice and the color of a crow of other regions are the same as in this country. In short, Allah Almighty made them into a symbol of the manifestation of his quality of oneness. All the goats eat the same food, be it the goat of the rich or poor. All the animals are alike but not the humans, for they are the manifestation of:
کُلَّ یَوْمٍ ہُوَ فِیۡ شَاۡنٍ ﴿ۚ۲۹﴾
Everyday He has a work.
(Al-Rahmaan 55, Verse 29)
Their color, foods, clothes, lifestyles and societies and everything else differ from region to region. Despite these differences, Allah’s will was to create a sense of unity among the human race so that all the humans of different colors look unified, and for this purpose, He sent his Beloved who is unparalleled and matchless:
بے مثل حق کے مظہر ہو، پھر مثل تمہارا کیونکر ہو
نہ کوئی تمہارا ہم رتبہ نہ کوئی ہمسایہ پایا
You are the manifestation of the matchless Haqq, then why should there be someone similar to you
Neither is there any one of your status nor could there be any one paralleled to you
This Beloved is the rope of Allah by holding onto which one gains access to the mighty court of Allah. He came to unite all those who are disorganized, just like a rope binds all the goods into one bundle. It’s due to this similarity that he is called “The rope of Allah”. Imam Booseeri states:
The rope of Allah united all the disunited ones. Just like the parts of body are different in their form and nature, their functions are also different but the relationship with soul has made them such that if the feet were to get hurt the brain will get the effect, and hence, when the connection with soul is discontinued after death even if one were to hit on the head, the eyes will still not feel its effects. Steadfastness on to the very “rope of Allah” i.e. The religion of Allah and the Messenger of Allah – may Allah send blessings and peace upon him – is mentioned in the Quranic verse. This verse establishes that the unity among Muslims is important. Islam requires Islamic unity while a non-Muslim is not ours even if he were to be one’s father, yet a Muslim although he is a stranger, is our brother.
Muslims are like honey to one another, for although each drop of the honey might have been extracted from a different flower but collectively, they all are called honey. No one will say that a certain honey is made of rose or jasmine extracts, similarly, the Beloved Master, may Allah send blessings and peace upon him, invited Hazrat Bilal from Ethiopia, Hazrat Suhaib from Rome and Hazrat Salman from Persia. In short, he made the people of different nationality into a group that there was no room for national or tribal difference.
The florist flourished such a garden
Where there was no “small” or “big” plant
Even the “lady-servants” and “Queen” treated one another
As if they were sisters given birth by the same mother
Unity is of vital importance for every nation. Few bristles of a broom can sweep a lot of unorganized dirt. It is for this reason that the Holy Prophet, may Allah send blessings and peace upon him, the first thing he did after entering Madinah Munawwarah, was the covenant of brotherhood. Up to this day and age, the unity Muslims have, no other nation has. There are a lot of differences in the christians’ churches and graveyards in terms of their superiority over one another but whether the rich or poor, all are equal in Islam. They have one God, one Rasool, one Quran, one Ka’bah then what is stopping the Muslims from uniting on one platform? Our Masjids and graveyards are all equal.
Both Mahmood and Ayaaz are standing in one line
Neither is there one looking like a servant nor the other like a slave
The national and cultural distinction is only for the identification purposes and not a criteria for to measure one’s superiority or inferiority, just as the water of the ocean, when floating in rivers, is called Ganges etc. The noble Sayyids are our princes because it’s mentioned about them:
کُلُّ نَسَبٍ وَّ سَبَبٍ مُنْقَطِعٌ یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَۃِ اِلَّا نَسَبِیْ و سَبَبِیْ
Every genealogic connection and medium will be cut off except my genealogic connection and my medium.
It is for this reason that Hazrat Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, married Hazrat Kulthoom Zahra, may Allah be pleased with her. The rest of Islamic nations are equal:
اِنَّ اَکْرَمَکُمْ عِنۡدَ اللہِ اَتْقٰىکُمْ ؕ
Undoubtedly, the most respected among you in the sight of Allah is he who is more pious.
(Al-Hujraat 49, Verse 13)
Allah Almighty mentioned the word “rope” in the Ayah instead of a sheet or anything else, because one climbs a height through a rope, and a broom after being tied with a rope is useful enough to sweep away a lot of dirt, it can help the boat in its movements and provide a support compared to sheet that, although a lot of things can be wrapped in it but it does not provide the strength.
