Hadrat Sayyiduna Aanis – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that when he saw the blessed face of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – he felt that it was a part of the moon and he was also smiling. “It was also very close that we became guilty of fitnah, (in other words of breaking our Salaah to see him due to the joy of seeing him well). He then dropped the covering and it was on that day that he departed from this world.” (Riyaadul Asar)
