A friend of mine relates an amazing story of the dedication displayed by these Christian missionaries. He narrates:

 

When I was still a student, I once travelled to Germany. One day, while I was sitting in the hotel room and going through a few magazines, I heard a knock on the door. I was surprised as to who would actually come and visit me since I knew no one in this city. I then looked through the window and saw that a young girl was standing outside with a few booklets in her hand. I asked her who she was and what she wanted. She replied, “Please open the door, I have some important things to discuss with you.”

 

I informed her that I was a Muslim and since I was alone, according to my religion, I could not be seen alone with her. However, she continued to insist and I continued to refuse her entry into the room. Finally, she mentioned that she was associated with a certain Christian Mission and said that I should just take these booklets and she would leave. I told her that I had no need for these booklets and that she should leave. Finally, when she realised that I was never going to open the door, she placed her mouth near the key hole and began to explain the “merits” of Christianity to me. She continued lecturing to me for a few minutes. Finally, when had completed her speech, I asked her, “Why have you inconvenienced yourself in such a manner?”

 

She replied, “Only now I have become satisfied and whatever I could do for my religion, I have performed that according to my means.”

 

Dear Muslims! Have we asked ourselves how much we do to spread the religion of Islam? Have we actually served Islam in our life time? How many people have accepted Islam at our hands? Look at the immense dedication displayed by this single young female.

 

Look at her state. There is no doubt that for a person to receive guidance is something which is Divinely destined. At the same time, we must understand that Islam is a fountain of guidance and success. Have we made an effort in our life of spreading this Nur? Sadly, besides spreading this Nur, we do not even fulfil those actions which are Fard upon us. There are millions of people who are committing deeds and actions which daily lead them to Hell. Did we ever think about presenting the light of Islam to these people? Our effort should be to remove people from darkness and bring them to the light.

 

Bring them from this world to the Hereafter. We have been created for this purpose of taking people towards the Creator. We are encouraged to lead them away from wordily wealth towards good deeds. Yet, we ourselves have distanced ourselves from the right path. We have forgotten the actual purpose of our creation. We have adopted the example of outsiders as our role models. We continuously run towards wealth and riches and have become worse than mad people.

 

If we look at the history of Islam, we will find that early Muslims left Arabia and spread all over the world, most of them never to return to their homeland. Such was their dedication to Islam that the Allah Almighty in His Infinite Mercy, placed the entire world at their feet and they certainly became masters of the universe. Bear in mind that this world does not change for anyone. We have to create a self-revolution within ourselves so that the world would change looking at us as an example. If we continue to do this, then once again, we may become the masters of the universe.

 

Some people say, “Let’s leave this aside, it is not easy to spread Islam. How is it possible that wherever we go, we have to speak about Islam?” Our Muslim brothers and sisters should look at themselves before looking at anyone else. In the present age, which sin and transgression have the Muslim not committed? To spread Islam is the greatest act which a Muslim can perform. There is no reason to make excuses in this regard. This is a duty of every Muslim from the day he is born. No amount of embarrassment should stop you from performing this duty which is Fard upon you. Just make sure that you perform your duties as a proper Muslim first and leave the rest to the Divine Mercy of Allah Almighty. If Muslims actually get together to perform this duty, imagine the revolution it would create and the amazing results it would achieve.
