In the Masnawi Shareef, an unusual story is mentioned about the amazing miracle of a cloth which belonged to the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him.
Once, Hadrat Sayyiduna Anas – may Allah be pleased with him – invited a few Ashaab to partake in some food. When they placed the cloth on the floor, they noticed that it was a little soiled. Hadrat Sayyiduna Anas – may Allah be pleased with him – then instructed his female servant to place this in the hot burning fire. His two guests were extremely surprised and waited for this cloth to burn. However, they were surprised that a few moments later, the cloth appeared from the fire absolutely clean with no signs of it being burnt!
If this is the status of a piece of cloth which had a connection with the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – imagine the state of that person who is connected to the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – as an Ummati? How can this sincere person burn in the Fire of Hell?
Today, we are looking for our respect. How can we gain respect in the eyes of anyone when you deliberately turn away from the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – and try to impersonate a Western person. Even if you do impersonate these modern people, there is a possibility that people may not even want to look at you, however, if you try to emulate the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, the whole world will take notice of you. Not only this, but by following the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – you will also become a beloved slave of Allah Almighty.
We have seen in the past that when Muslims merely wore a topi and a small beard, people used to move away from the road allowing the Muslim to walk past. Today, while we strive to impersonate the Western world, we have become the target of everyone.
O Muslims! Where are you going today? You are busy reading novels and other un-Islamic literature which is filled with lies and deceit instead of reading the Qur’an. This is that Qur’an which has stories of people who lived in the past, it has laws, Knowledge of the Unseen and many other interesting points. Instead of reading the Readers Digest, read the Ahadith of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – and create love for these words. Instead of using your fingers to place dice, use it to read the Tasbeeh.
There are certain Saints who spent their entire life not eating a certain type of food or fruit because they were not sure whether it was Sunnah or not. Hence, they never even placed their hands on that fruit. We speak of these examples, but our behaviour is completely opposite.
Hadrat Moulana Jalaaludeen Rumi – may Allah be pleased with him – speaks about a person who opened a special window in his house. A pious person then asked him the purpose for this, and he replied that he wished to get the benefit of the cool breeze. The Saint replied, “If only you had made the intention that you wished to hear the sweet sound of the Azaan while doing this. In that way, you would have received two benefits. You would have received the reward for making a noble intention and side by side, you would have also benefited from the cool breeze.”
In the present time, many Muslims are more impressed by science than actual Islamic teaching. Before doing anything, they look at the wordily benefit first. We will explain a few things in this regard in this lecture. However, before doing so, there are a few words of caution. It must be borne in mind that the miracles of the Prophets in their specific time were specific to that period. Even though some of these miracles seem unusual to us, but because a Divine Message had to be substantiated, hence these types of miracles appeared. In the time of Nabi ‘Isa – peace be upon him – the physicians of that period felt that they could cure anything and boasted about their powers, hence Allah Almighty blessed Nabi ‘Isa – peace be upon him – with the power of healing as is well known. In the face of amazing miracles, the physicians who boasted about their healing powers became speechless.
In the time of Nabi Moosa – peace be upon him – magic played an important role in peoples life. When these magicians of the period transformed their little sticks into snakes through magic, Allah Almighty blessed Nabi Moosa – peace be upon him – with the power of turning his walking stick into a king cobra. This instantly made these magicians speechless.
In the time of Nabi Sulayman – peace be upon him – he was able to carry his throne in the air.
In the time of Nabi Saleh – peace be upon him – people boasted about their powers of creating dwellings made from rock faces. Allah Almighty blessed him by creating a camel from the rock face. This left their top engineers and builders speechless.
In the time of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, science played an important part in people’s lives and some of his teachings and advises left people speechless until the present day. Science only now has admitted that everything was created from water and this was told nearly fourteen hundreds ago by the Qur’an. The Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – proved that he could listen to the sound of the Divine Pen. Hadrat ‘Umar – may Allah be pleased with him – proved that his voice could travel hundreds of miles away and that he could also see hundreds of miles away. This is only recently being proven by science through the invention of radio, TV and other telecommunication.
