Hadrat Sayyiduna Shaddaad – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates, “Once the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – arrived for the ‘Isha Salaah. He was carrying Imam Hasan and Imam Husain – may Allah be pleased with them. He then kept both of his blessed grandson on one side and began the Salaah. However, during the Salaah, he prolonged one of the Sajdahs. When Hadrat Sayyiduna Shaddaad – may Allah be pleased with him – picked up his head, he saw that the both grandchildren of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – had climbed on his back. The Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – was also in Sajdah all this time.” Hadrat Sayyiduna Shaddaad – may Allah be pleased with him – then returned to the Sajdah position.

 

When the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – had completed the Salaah, the blessed companions inquired, “O Prophet of Allah, during the Salaah, you had certainly prolonged one of the Sajdah and we began to think that perhaps something had happened to you. Was Divine revelation been sent you at this moment?”

 

The Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – replied, “None of this. The actual truth is that my grandchildren had climbed on my back and that is the reason I did not want to wake up from Sajdah until they had fulfilled their need.” (Sahih Nisaa’i Shareef)
