The mother of Sayyidah Ayesha Siddique Radi Allahu ‘Anha is Sayyidah Umme Rumaan binte Amir bin Awaamir Kinaani Radi Allahu ‘Anha. The Mother of the Faithful was born four years after the announcement of Prophethood.

When the Holy Prophet Sallal Laahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam passed away, Sayyidah Ayesha Siddique Radi Allahu ‘Anha was eighteen years old. Her famous nephew was Hadrat Abdullah bin Zubair Radi Allahu ‘Anhu. Due to this, she is also famously known as Umme Abdullah. She is considered as one of those early Muslims who was an authority in Islamic Law and also an authority in Ahadith. Sayyidah Ayesha Siddique Radi Allahu ‘Anha is considered as the favourite wife of the Holy Prophet Sallal Laahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam. She was also extremely pious and used to be constantly in the state of fasting. Sayyidah Ayesha Siddique Radi Allahu ‘Anha has also narrated many Ahadith from the Holy Prophet Sallal Laahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam. She passed away in the month of Ramadaan on a Tuesday night in the 58th year of Hijrah.

In the Bukhari Shareef, Hadrat Sayyiduna Urwah bin Zubair Radi Allahu ‘Anhu narrates that the blessed lady said to him, “O my nephew, I have heard that Abdullah ibn Amar will be passing by us on his way to Hajj. You must meet him and inquire about a Hadith Shareef because he has acquired much knowledge from the Holy Prophet Sallal Laahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam. If you do meet him, then you should ask him about the Hadith which he has heard from the Holy Prophet Sallal Laahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam.”

Hadrat Urwah bin Abdullah Radi Allahu ‘Anhu also explains that this eminent companion had heard many Ahadith from the Holy Prophet Sallal Laahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam and one of them was that, “Without doubt, Allah azza wajal would not take away knowledge from people, but He will take away the ‘Ulama and with them; knowledge will also be taken away. Unlearned people will remain among people who will give decisions without knowledge. They will be misguided and they will also misguide others.”

(This is a hadith which has been recorded in the Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim Shareef. It has also been recorded by Imam Bukhari, Imam Muslim, Imam Tirmidhi, Imam ibn Maja and Imam Baihaqi Radi Allahu ‘Anhum). There are also many other Ahadith with similar meaning as well.

Hadrat Sayyiduna Urwah Radi Allahu ‘Anhu says that when he presented these words to Sayyidah Ayesha Radi Allahu ‘Anha she did not believe this and she refuted it. “She then asked me, ‘Did Abdullah ibn Amar confirm with you that he had heard this from the Holy Prophet Sallal Laahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam?’ I replied that yes he had.”

“The following year, she informed me, ‘Ibn Amar has arrived, go and meet him and ask him about that Hadith which pertains to knowledge which he had mentioned last year (to you).’

“Hadrat Sayyiduna Urwah Radi Allahu ‘Anhu narrates that, ‘I then met him and he related the same Hadith Shareef in exactly the same manner as he had mentioned to me last year. When I related this to Sayyidah Ayesha Radi Allahu ‘Anha, she remarked, ‘Perhaps he has spoken the truth because without anything less or more, he has mentioned exactly the same words.’”

Imam Bukhari Radi Allahu ‘Anhu has also recorded another Hadith Shareef in which the words are, “A person will issue a Fatwa according to his opinion and because of this, he is misguided and will misguide others.”

In another report, the blessed Mother of the Faithful remarked, “Abdullah has certainly memorized the Hadith, by Allah! He has certainly properly memorized the hadith.” (A’laamul Muqineen)

Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Amar bin Al Aas Makki Radi Allahu ‘Anhu is considered a very eminent companion. He also accepted Islam before his own father. He used to always be in Ibadah. He also took part in many wars and expeditions. Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Amar Radi Allahu ‘Anhu passed away in 65 A. H. There is a difference of opinion on where he actually passed away.
