It is reported that once there was a village person who was sitting with a rich person and eating. At the same time, two fried partridges were presented on the eating cloth. When this villager picked up one of the partridge, he began to laugh. The rich person asked him the reason for laughing and he related his story.

He narrates, “I once captured a businessman and when I wanted to murder him, he began to plead with me. However, I did not listen to his pleading and when he realised that I was not going to listen to his pleading, he looked towards the mountain and saw two partridges sitting on a hill. He then said to these two partridges, ‘Bear witness that this person intends to kill me in act of oppression.’ I then killed this person. That is the reason that when I saw these two partridges on the eating cloth, I began to laugh at the stupidity of this person.”

When the rich person heard this story, he angrily replied, “By Allah Almighty, these two partridges have borne witness against you in front of someone who is able to display justice as well.” He then ordered this person to be immediately killed. (Al Qalyubi)
