Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdus Samad bin Ma’qal – may Allah be pleased with him – reports: “I heard Hadrat Sayyiduna Wahb bin Mambah – may Allah be pleased with him – narrate:
In the previous Ummah, there was a person whose daughter was suffering from epilepsy. He went to many people to treat his daughter and remove this illness but with no success at all. Whenever he heard about any doctor, he immediately took his daughter to this person. However, every time he returned without any success. Someone then informed him that there was a certain person who was considered extremely pious and if he approached this person, perhaps his daughter would be cured.
He then approached this person and said to him that he had been to many doctors and still he had been unsuccessful. He also swore on the Name of Allah Almighty as well.
When this pious person heard this complaint, he mentioned that if he cures this girl and certainly he had the means to cure her, he would become extremely famous and made famous by this person and he would then have no peace whatsoever after that. In this way, he would be continuously troubled by people.
In fact, this girl was actually affected by a Jinn who had entered her body.
This person then commanded the Jinn to leave the body of this female. However the Jinn replied, “I will never leave the body of this female and it can only be possible if you permit me to enter your body.”
The pious doctor agreed to this. However, when the Jinn entered the body of this doctor, he made sure that this Jinn was only captured in his body and could not affect anyone else. Hence he made a hisaar or knot around his body so that the Jinn would not be able to escape as well.
He then called the father of this female and informed him that he could take his daughter as she had been cured. However, the father replied, “I am very afraid that perhaps this same Jinn would appear again and trouble this daughter of mine.”
However the pious person replied, “You may go in safety, this Jinn will never attack your daughter again.”
The father then made Du’a for him and left.
This Jinn which was now captured in the body of this pious person and could not leave. The pious person also kept fast for one complete week and spent the nights in Ibadah. On the seventh day, this Jinn informed him, “Why do you not eat food, at least in this way, you may gain strength.”
However, the pious person said that he would not hurry in this regard and that he had no need for food. The Jinn also pleaded to him to release him so that he could leave his body. However, the pious person replied that this can never happen and he cannot be released.
The pious person again kept fast for another week and spent all his nights in Ibadah. Again the Jinn asked him whether he wanted to kill himself and again he replied that he had no need for food. Again the Jinn asked to be released and the pious person refused to accept this request. The Jinn then pleaded to him that if he does not eat or drink, then both of them will be killed.
The pious person replied that he was afraid that if he released the Jinn, he would again go and enter the body of that female. In this way, he would continue to trouble this female.
The Jinn swore in the Name of Allah Almighty that it would never ever approach the girl again. And that it would also never ever come near any human again. It also said that whatever had been done to it by the pious person, made it realise that humans are the most dangerous of creatures. Therefore, from this moment onwards, it feared humans more than anything else.
It is mentioned that the pious doctor then allowed it to leave his body and it is mentioned that whenever this same Jinn used to see a human, it used to run away from that person. (Uyunul Hikaayah)
