Download PDF: [S] Imam Pardons his Slave (Islamic story)
In the Tafseer of the 134th verse of Surah Ale Imran, which is:
الَّذِیۡنَ یُنۡفِقُوۡنَ فِی السَّرَّآءِ وَالضَّرَّآءِ وَالْکٰظِمِیۡنَ الْغَیۡظَ وَالْعَافِیۡنَ عَنِ النَّاسِؕ وَاللہُ یُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِیۡنَ﴿۱۳۴﴾ۚ
“Those who spend in Allah’s cause, in happiness and in grief, and who control their anger and are forgiving towards mankind; and the righteous are the beloved of Allah.”
An interesting incident is mentioned. It is mentioned that once, the female servant of Hadrat Sayyiduna Imam Zainul Aabideen – may Allah be pleased with him – was pouring water while he was making wudu and the container slipped from her hand. With the result of this action, all his clothes also became wet. Obviously, for someone to become angry at something like this is quite natural.
When the female servant grasped this, she quickly recited the above verse. When Sayyiduna Imam Zainul Aabideen – may Allah be pleased with him – heard this verse, his anger disappeared and he pardoned this slave. The female servant was also someone who was very intelligent and she quickly recited the last part of his verse. When the great Imam heard this, he said to her that she could leave as he had freed her. (Ma’aarif Al Qur’an; Shuhubul Imaan)
