It is mentioned that once Imam A’zam Abu Hanifah – may Allah be pleased with him – was in partnership with someone in Basrah. They were selling material. Imam A’zam Abu Hanifah – may Allah be pleased with him – sent seventy pieces of silk to this partner of his and also informed him that there was some defect in one of them. He told his partner that when he sells it, he must inform the customer of this defect. However, this person sold the entire shipment for thirty thousand dirhams and sent the entire money to Imam A’zam Abu Hanifah – may Allah be pleased with him.  Imam A’zam Abu Hanifah – may Allah be pleased with him – then asked him whether he had informed the customer of the defect which he had informed him about. However, this person mentioned that he had forgotten to do so. When Imam A’zam – may Allah be pleased with him – heard this, he immediately gave away the entire thirty thousand dirhams in charity.
