Hadrat Sahl – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that, “One day I arrived for the Jumu’ah Salaah but found that the Masjid was filled with people. I began to do something which was highly disrespectful and began to climb over the shoulders of people to walk towards the front of the Masjid. I continued to do this until I reached the first line. As I sat down, I noticed a very handsome looking young man that was sitting on my right. He asked me how I was and I replied that I was well. However, in all this excitement of reaching the front of the Masjid, I suddenly realized that I needed to go to the toilet to urinate. At the same time, I did not want to commit the same mistake of walking over the shoulders of people again and reaching the toilets.

“This young man then looked at me and said, ‘O Sahl! Are you wanting to urinate and are you also feeling hot?’ I replied that this is what was happening to me. This young man then took out his shawl from around his shoulders and placed it over me and then said to me, ‘Quickly release yourself and join the congregation because the Salaah is about to commence.’

“When he placed this shawl over me, I suddenly felt extremely sleepy and when I regained consciousness, I noticed a door that was open in front of me and someone was telling me, ‘O Sahl! Enter this area and release yourself.’

“I then entered this room and one side of this house there was a tree and there was also a toilet. I then released myself and also re-performed my Wudu. This person then asked, ‘Have you released yourself?’ and I said that indeed I had done so.

“This young person then removed his shawl with which had covered me and I realized that I was sitting in the same front row of the Masjid. I also did not know whether what I had seen was merely a dream or not. After the Salaah, I decided to follow this young man so that I could recognize who he was. As I followed him, I noticed that he was walking into the same house which I had seen in my dream. He then turned to me and said, ‘O Sahl! Whatever you had seen, it was true and it was not just an imagination.’ I then released that this was not ordinary young man. I then began to wipe my eyes and when I looked again, I could see no house in front of me.” (Al Qalyubi)
