Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Hamza Khurasaani – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates:

Once, I had completed the Haj and was returning home, but I fell into a well by mistake. My Nafs then asked me to call for help but I replied that I will never call for help. As this was happening, two people then appeared above this well and they said that the entrance of this well will be sealed so that no one would fall into it by mistake. They covered the top of the well with sticks and grass and left me alone. I wanted to scream but again I thought that I would never do this and simply rely on Allah Almighty. While I was in this state, suddenly I saw a leg appear at the top of the well and this person said, “Hold on to the leg.”

When I held on to this leg, as I appeared outside the well, I noticed that it was a wild animal which I had held on to. Suddenly I heard a voice say to me, “O Abu Hamzah! Is it not strange that you were saved by an animal who is also your enemy?”

This is the reward of reliance solely on the Divine Mercy of the Allah Almighty. (Nawaadir Al Qalyubi)
