Download PDF: [S] His Reliance on Allah
Hadrat Sayyiduna Ebrahim bin Muhallib – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates:
While I was travelling, I met a young man who was living in a dry and barren area. I also found that he was busy in Salaah and Ibadah. When he had finished his Ibadah, I asked him that there seems to be no one who takes care of him in this barren land. However, he assured me that there was someone who took care of him. I then asked him where this person was. He replied, “He is present everywhere around me”. I then realised that indeed this young man was from among the Ahle Ma’rifah.
I asked him whether he had any provisions. He replied, “Yes, why not”.
I then asked him where this was and replied, “It is Ikhlaas, Tauheed, believing in the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, to have proper beliefs and Imaan, to have complete trust in the Allah Almighty. These are my provisions.”
I then asked him whether he wanted to live with me. He said, “When a person associates with another, he becomes forgetful in remembering Allah Almighty. Therefore, I can never accept the company of someone who makes me becomes oblivious of Allah Almighty for only one second and make me lose out on the immense joy which I am able to experience now when I am making His Ibadah.”
I then asked him whether he does not feel fear and apprehension in this barren land. He said to me, “The love for Allah is such love which make me fearless. And because of this, even in the midst of the wild animals, I feel no fear or apprehension.”
I then asked him about his food. He replied, “That Divine Creator Who fed me in the darkness of the womb, He continues to give me sustenance.”
I then asked him how he finds his food. He replied, “I receive food at a certain time wherever I am. My sustenance certainly reaches me. My Creator is fully aware of my needs and what I require. He is nor unaware of my condition. He is my Protector in all circumstances.”
He then said to me that he has one request after I had asked him what he required from me. He then said to me that when I meet him again, I should not speak to him and that I should not reveal his identity.
I then asked him whether he had any other need and he replied, “If it is possible, always remember me in your Du’as. Whenever you are sad and troubled, also make Du’a for me”.
I then asked him how I should make Du’a for him when he was much greater than me in spiritual status. He replied, “There is no doubt that you are older than me and therefore, your Imaan is older than mine and therefore, your Ibadah would be greater than mine.”
I then asked him to make Du’a for me.
He then made Du’a for me that I am protected from sin at all times. And that I am blessed with such sadness in which His Divine Pleasure is hidden and besides this, I should have no other sadness.
He then informed me that I should not have confidence in meeting him again in this world and that if I wanted to meet in the hereafter, then I should refrain from all those things which the Allah Almighty has prohibited. He also mentioned that the hereafter is a place where the pious would be gathered and that I should find him among those who are able to see the Allah Almighty.
I then asked him how he was certain that he had attained this status and he replied that he had restricted himself from all those things which were prohibited in Islam and that he had also made Du’a to see the Allah Almighty in the hereafter.
After saying these few words, he disappeared. (Uyunul Hikaayah)
